Not to use a sports metaphor, but there’s a concept called plate discipline and more people in politics desperately need it.

Talarico made a rational, compassionate statement that reflects where most voters are. Calling that “capitulating to fascism” is childish politics masquerading as moral seriousness.

You win elections by persuading people who don’t already agree with you. You make voters feel safe voting for you and show them you’ll govern for them too. “Adopt every one of my positions or you’re a fascist” isn’t a coalition. It’s a tantrum.
