“do not believe those who want you to fear russia, shouting that other regions will follow crimea. we do not want to divide ukraine; we do not need that.”

April 6 (Reuters) - Iran and the U.S. have received a plan to end hostilities that could come into effect on Monday and reopen the Strait of Hormuz, a source aware of the proposals said on Monday.
A framework to end hostilities has been put together by Pakistan and exchanged with Iran and the U.S. overnight, the source said, outlining a two-tier approach with an immediate ceasefire followed by a comprehensive agreement.
"All elements need to be agreed today," the source said
@EricEngels Sounds like they need a full rebuild then. Tear it down to the studs. Everything he just said is inconsistent with the results. So much so that one of the league's best players is out for the season, and another is basically questioning what is the dops even doing.
@MichelleLA1981 I need you to google/ChatGPT two things:
1. Which jurisdiction does healthcare fall into in Canada
2. Whether Liberals or Conservatives have been in control of that jurisdiction for the last ~7.5 yrs.
Bonus points for checking for majority/minority government status
@ikwilson This literally quotes a committment to free trade. It isn't even a reading comprehension issue. It's a video. That you posted. Give me a break.
i get a lot of questions these days from people feeling worried, disturbed, even overwhelmed about our political environment. my answers have been honest but incomplete. i've tried to answer this particularly heartfelt request more fully--and i'm posting here (with her name redacted) in the hope that maybe others might find it useful too. ian
Not sure you will read this through…
The bottom line up front: I’m reaching out, not for reassurance, but for direction. Are there ways of engaging that you believe actually make a difference—paths for ordinary people like me who refuse to give up—I would be deeply grateful if you’d share them.
I’ve been a follower of yours since my introduction to you via Preet’s podcast. I just finished How to Stand Up to a Dictator by Maria Ressa. It lit a fire in me but also leaves me overwhelmed. I feel pulled to do more, but don’t know how beyond what I am currently doing: I make weekly calls through 5calls (dot) org, I write, I show up to local protests, but it feels like trying to hold back a tidal wave with a teaspoon.
How does a layperson create change? I’m not a lawyer or political expert, but a mom and the wife of a now-retired Lt. Colonel. For 24 years, I stood by my husband’s side, believing deeply in the idea that the sacrifices our family was making were for the greater good—that our country, for all its flaws, stood for freedom, truth, and accountability. That there was honor in this calling. But over the last eight years, and especially these past nine months, I’ve felt that foundation crumble. The freedoms I once believed were sacred are being chipped away, quietly and relentlessly.
I know you’re not an oracle. But I view you as someone who connects the dots with clarity, empathy, and integrity. Thank you for the work you do. You make people like me feel less alone, and that’s no small thing in times like these. I will take any guidance you can provide.
Respectfully,

@Noahpinion So you're telling me a couple of MOPs could destroy Irans nuclear weapons program *and* Gabbard's ridiculous appointment?
I guess I'm a war monger now 🤷♂️
@LeafsAllDayy It sounds extreme but I don't want to watch this core anymore. There's no mystery to "can they do it?" They can't. Whether they get the bounces or they don't. They inevitably crumble. What more do I need to see? It's not happening
@CarloColaiacovo Effort. It's not that they lose it's how they lose in elimination games over and over. They weren't abysmal during the whole game but the lack of effort, fire, will to battle through? Nowhere to be found when it matters.
Term 2 Trump foreign policy - from tariffs to NATO to soft power to China and Russia - is an epic mess. One reason seems to be that the administration is operating with two conflicting, equally flawed, views of the world and the US's place in it. 🧵
Dear allies, the investigation of the Lithuanian prosecutor’s office has confirmed our suspicions that responsible for setting fires to shopping centres in Vilnius and Warsaw are the Russian secret services. Good to know before negotiations. Such is the nature of this state.
