https://t.co/Kfes8C0KXR Authors detect abundant aldehydes in the aerosol, conclude this happened because of flavor chemicals. This is questionable, as their experiments generated an overheated aerosol that would produce abundant aldehydes EVEN WITHOUT FLAVOR CHEMICALS.
@jamomartin My daughter’s trainer told her he has taken up smoking to get off vaping. Citing that 1. He won’t consume as much nicotine as he has to go outside to smoke. 2. He can taste plastic burning in his disposable vapes. It’s not the first time I’ve heard this nonsense.
🚨 Beware vaping scare stories! A Guardian headline claimed teens who vape “will go on to smoke”, but as Dr. Arielle Selya notes, the study shows speculative estimates, not real behavior. Fear-based reporting fuels myths. Trust data, not hype.

🚨Spoiler Alert!🚨
Our movie wasn't about smoking at all. It was about improving brain health & what serious scientists at world-class universities were finding.
It was about love for our communities, the need for truth, & who is holding back vital information that could affect 2 billion people.
Don't be afraid of the word "nicotine." Seek the information. We simply packaged it all together into 90 minutes for you.
I sincerely hope it helps.
There's a LOT more to the nicotine discussion besides just quitting smoking. It's mainly about improving brain health...
It's great to see communities coming together to find answers to big problems like Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, & other neurological diseases.
One 20,000 member Parkinson's community is discussing You Don't Know Nicotine right now!

There's a lot of evidence showing people who smoke cigarettes get Parkinson's less (Google it). Smoking is bad for health, but what if people used clean nicotine instead? There's a lot to discover yet, but honest/open discussion is the starting point.
We know there can be a lot of confusion & tension about nicotine. This is why we made the film.
Smoking is not the answer (discussed in our film), but clean nicotine (no smoke) might be the perfect answer for some to avoid devastating brain diseases. How can that be discussed if everyone instantly dismisses & shames users? Our film serves as a starting point.
Check this out:
"The link between smoking [not healthy] and a lower risk of Parkinson's disease (PD) is one of the strongest environmental or lifestyle associations in neuroepidemiology."

When Meredith falsely claimed on national TV that vaping caused lung injuries, an actual physician, Dr. Michael Siegel, a career-long and highly respected expert in field of tobacco control and public communication at Tufts Univ. School of Public Health absolutely posterized her.

- The study systematically reviewed the respiratory effects of e-cigarette (EC) use, distinguishing between dual use, exclusive use, and naïve use.
- Twelve systematic reviews were analyzed
- No significant changes in respiratory function were observed across all patterns of use in the short or medium term.
The study highlights the importance of distinguishing between different vaping behaviors in future research, as well as addressing methodological weaknesses and biases observed in many previous studies on the topic. But it allows us to state once again that vaping cannot be associated to significant changes in respiratory function @CoeharUnict
@CTVNews That's the result you get when you don't exclude people who smoke (tobacco and/or cannabis) from your study. Undoubtedly that was intentional to get you to cover this brazen attempt to keep people smoking.
What you get when the study is done right 👇

US teen nicotine use:
- cigarette use has dropped 90% to near zero
- nicotine vape use is now at a 10-year low
- 2x more teens smoked in 2011 as vape today
- nicotine from any source is now at a 50-year low
(down 49% over the past decade)

The media always seems to know how many kids are #vaping but rarely talks about the people who could be helped by better access to alternatives.
👉 Just like with everything else, people should be informed and allowed to make decisions about their health and bodies.
Everyone talks about a #smokefree Europe and bans while nicotine replacement therapy is still difficult to access for many smokers, and we have a lack of smoking cessation personnel.
Smokers can no longer be denied an accessible and proven alternative.
