“We must all be able to debate freely and openly” is crazy coming from a man who arrested over 1.3k in a month for holding pieces of cardboard that said genocide is bad.
One day Netanyahu will die, and liberal Zionists will rush to pin the horror inflicted on Palestinians solely on him. But it wasn’t just Netanyahu. Only 10 Israeli citizens refused to fight. The blockade that starved Gaza and blocked international aid and water was maintained by the whole of Israeli society. This was not the act of one man—it was collective. No one will forget. No one will forgive.
Being Israeli is a choice. It is opt-in. You don’t have to be Israeli. You can move, you can identify as whatever flavour of European your settler ancestors were. You can reject it as an identity entirely. Being Israeli is optional and therefore there are no good Israelis.
My politics come down to one simple principle: We have enough for everyone, so everyone should have enough. We don't have a scarcity problem or even a logistics problem, we have a greed problem.
I’m not surprised, given how much the world has ignored and moved on from in Gaza and how just dehumanized Arabs are, but I’m still in shock. Israel carried out one of the largest ‘terrorist attacks’ (by the West’s own definition) against civilians in recent history, and everyone just shrugged and moved along.
I wonder if the people condemning Just Stop Oil activists for destroying art are able to put two and two together yet.
Anyway, here’s an unrelated post…
This is terrible Charlie. Did they turn off the power & water, bomb your local hospital & school, then bulldoze your house and shoot your children?
If they had a lick of sense and an ounce of bravery they would go scorched earth in these final months. Lost the presidency and the senate? Just do it. But I don’t think they have it in them.
