Our client has brought a constitutional challenge to a Health Canada directive prohibiting sperm donations from gay and bi men. The directive is a blanket ban that deems all gay and bi men “unsuitable” donors, regardless of individual risk factors and rigorous testing in place.
@SharleenStewart@SEIUHealthCan I remember Chris’ strong advocacy, his sincere compassion for the members he represented, and his good humour. My condolences.
Thank you #NABET700 for inviting Rahim and me along to the Crystal Awards today! Had a blast at the table with this crew, and was moved by the inspiring words — and work — of the award recipients. ✨
Hard to overstate how much of a screw up this was by the Conservatives.
Nothing that happened after Bill28 was passed was surprising. Entirely expected for anyone who knows anything about the labour relations world.
When the Ford government passed draconian and unprecedent legislation decimating the rights of CUPE education workers, the labour movement across this province showed up. And the labour movement was victorious. Solidarity now and forever.
Ford overplayed his hand with regard to back-to-work legislation and the Notwithstanding clause. Education workers appear to be winning over public support for their political strike.

Bill 28 must be defeated. I am inspired by the courage of the workers who are leading the charge, and proud to stand with them today. #dontbeabully#CUPESolidarity
What a beautiful day. 126 picket lines across the province.
A few pics from the Queen's Park political protest.

Retweet if you agree that Ontario needs to end the wage suppression of nurses when hospital shutdowns are occurring due to a shortage of nurses. #RepealBill124
And big thanks to the Canadian Association of Labour Lawyers for sending me! It was a privilege to represent Canada’s labour lawyers at this fab conference.
An unforgettable experience in what really feels like an exciting —and critical — moment in trade union history. 📈
It was impossible not to feel the momentum, unity, and hope of the trade union movement in the USA at the @AFLCIO ULA conference in Portland Oregon this week.
Even as we met, workers at FOUR Starbucks locations in PDX voted Union!! 🗳☕️🗳☕️🗳☕️🗳☕️
Thank you to the organizers for a great program, the speakers for sharing your wisdom and experience, and to fellow attendees for the really warm welcome.
Gay men can now donate blood in Canada.
The old 'ban' replaced by screening of sexual behaviour of all donors.
Lawyer @Gregory_Ko brought a discrimination complaint over the old policy.
He says the screening could still lead discrimination.
