#crp class has taught me many things, but my biggest take away this semester is the different ways to connect with our students and create those genuine relationships #gccedu
I’m going to blaze a new trail by trying to connect with my students and their culture and breaking the normal school mold that can be so easy to fall into #Gccedu#crp#realitypedagogy@chrisemdin
Reality pedagogy is where the teachers goal is to meet every student where they are at both culturally and emotionally, and looking at them as individuals rather than one the class as one group #gccedu#crp
@KyleeMclafferty I love this take away, showing students that they are loved can be so powerful, because we never really know what is going on in their life outside of school #gccedu#crp
Great lesson on teaching students with abuse by @KellyLOMalley and @avwulff very helpful in spotting different signs that students may be being abused, and also what we can do to help #gccedu#crp
It is important to be willing to make sacrifices in order to achieve goals. There have been times where I have had to make sacrifices for school or sports, and it isn’t fun, but the benefits at the end are always worth it! #gccedu#crp
There can be a lot of pressure on Asian American students, so it’s important not to just expect them to be the model student but focus on their needs too #gccedu#crp
When teaching ELL students it is important to constantly make sure they understand, and they aren’t just nodding in agreement so they don’t stick out among their classmates for not knowing #gccedu#crp
Another great presentation by @MrCramer7 and @KyleeMclafferty about teaching non-Christian students, love the whole idea of leading by example and also taking an interest in students culture #gccedu#crp
Loved the presentation by @MackEmersonGCC and @Lauren__Bosco about LGBTQ+ students, major takeaway for me was to be good listened to people coming out, and don’t just start asking a ton of questions #gccedu#crp
A4: A take away I had was how important it is for teachers to have a positive attitude, and help their students see their potental, and focus on the different strengths they have #gccedu#CRP
A3: So that students can become aware of the negative assumptions they maybe don't notice they have, and as a class they can focus on strengths of everyone #gccedu#CRP
