π¨ You may have seen that the USDA updated their Plant Hardiness Zone Map and much of the St. Louis area is now Zone 7A. So does this mean that plants that are hardy to Zone 7 can now be planted here? Not necessarily!

@DustinDemmer I will say that taking care of the seedlings once we get them is so much easier now. The old peat mix would dry out so much faster than what is used now since the water actually soaks in instead of running off like before.
@DustinDemmer This is all so interesting! Our grower for our veggie seedlings uses a peatless mix that they get from a local company. I'll have to ask what their ingredients are.
Schools can now register for the annual Green Schools Quest by Show-Me Green Schools! We're a proud partner of this project-based challenge for PreK-12 schools in Missouri & Southern Illinois.

Youth Gardens: We highly recommend growing sweet potatoes! They're very low maintenance & there are many curriculum connections that can be made.
The kiddos @MRH_Schools Early Childhood Center's Kitchen Garden said they felt like "archeologists" searching for sweet potatoes.
Many of the school gardeners in our network have incorporated Paul Fleischman's novel Seedfolks into their ELA & garden curriculum. Now you can see the theatrical adaptation by @MetroTheater! The play runs through 11/6!
