I hv a problem with this ad at Delhi Metro. My own loving dear mother died of Breast Cancer, which was Stage 4 at diagnosis. The irony was her son(me) ws a Breast Surgeon at that time, & out of modesty, she did not even tell her own son, when it ws a small lump, that ws potentially curable.
So please don't sexualize Breast Cancer which is the most common Cancer worldwide. I am heavily invested in early detection & cure of Breast Cancer. The great TN health dept has deputed adequate female surgeons, radiologists & pathologists in govt hospitals fr detection of Breast Cancers, if female drs r requested by pts.
This month October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Pls cooperate with drs in prevention of avoidable suffering & death. There is nothing wrong in uttering the word Breast in the context of Breast Cancer diagnosis & management. 🙏
Disturbing to read that Patiala’s RGNUL has been shut after students demanded the V-C’s resignation over a surprise girls’ hostel inspection to “check on drinking after midnight”, and a disgraceful pattern of sexist remarks on women. It is startling that the Vice Chancellor of a law university seems completely unaware of his students’ constitutional right to privacy. The government should immediately appoint a commission of enquiry, and the VC should step aside until its findings are released. The behaviour reported in the media seems at the least inappropriate: https://t.co/RbHUOaUa8K
if you’re depressed, your local darshini can save you
> for when you can’t get out of bed/your house: there’s a darshini most likely in a 3km radius of your house. close enough to push yourself to get out of the house without much pressure (even better if u walk)
> for when you can’t cook: low effort/cheap/healthy enough food as an alternative to homecooked food
> for when you don’t want to order: the food at a darshini is prepared super quick. the amount of time it would take you to open your delivery app -> decide on something -> delivery time — that’s the amount it would take for u to walk to the darshini, order and sit at a table with your dosa
> for when you don’t have an appetite: a lot of small portion options: get a filter coffee, get an idli, get a mangalore bun (my fav), just get something in your stomach
> for when you are isolating: communal eating is in the dna of darshinis. people share tables by default, so with no effort you will sit next to someone on a table, with 0 expectation of talking or even acknowledging each other
> look at people, look at the beauty of being alive: u can people watch (respectfully)— at the friend group laughing over coffees, kids running around being fed by their mom, suited men hurriedly eating, local uncles having the same debate for the sake of spending time together, a couple still in their morning pajamas sharing vade
darshini culture is underrated, and it has all the tools to ease your mental state even a little bit: walk, eat healthy food, save money, explore your locality, be amongst people— all achieved with ease and the lowest effort possible
if you’re depressed, go to a darshini
Yes, I admit I felt glee when I heard Kangana was slapped. But then I also felt sheepishly guilty. Well, yes, slapping vile people -- those whose entire personalities are about verbal attacks and dehumanising individuals and minorities --- may give momentary satisfaction, an illusion of justice, but it sets up a moral hazard. This is especially important when the violence is perpetrated by a man or woman in uniform. A view that may not provide enteraintment or satiate anger, even boring and moderate but true. The rule of law is hollowed out by private acts of violence and retribution.

My son died 3 years 5 months and 9 days ago. He was 18 years, 1 month, and 23 days old. Full of life, joy, just finished his high school and going to start university, suddenly our life turned upside down….

This is SO true! Major parts of our country, especially the North East, don't feature in our historiography. South India too is hardly known. High time India snatches back her narrative from the microscopic Delhi-centric story we are fed as Indian history!
#Northeast Matters
