Rain is expected again today from 8 PM to 11 PM. As seen in the attached photos, the water passage has narrowed due to the ongoing Metro Rail bridge construction, restricting free drainage. Kindly take immediate preventive action to ensure proper water flow and avoid flooding.

Residents are unable to step outside their homes as the roads are completely flooded with foul-smelling sewage, creating a serious public health and sanitation hazard. Immediate intervention is needed to restore proper drainage and prevent further flooding.

Due to the ongoing Metro bridge construction in Virugambakkam, the flow of the Cooum appears to be obstructed. As a result,
even a small spell of rain is causing sewage and drainage water to overflow into nearby residential streets.1/2

@CHN_Metro_Water The monsoon hasn't even started. If just 30 minutes of rain can flood our streets with sewage due to bridge construction how are residents expected to live here for the next 6 months? We need a permanent drainage solution,not temporary responses after every rainfall.@chennaicorp

The contractor and concerned departments must be held accountable.

@CHN_Metro_Water Thanks for the visit, @CHN_Metro_Water. However, every affected household has spent around ₹4,000 today to clean their sump, and many low-lying homes are still flooded with sewage water. This is an unbearable burden on residents.@chennaicorp
