"British Columbia’s landmark Cambie surgical case concluded that private clinics do not shorten public wait times. They divert limited health-care staff to for-profit facilities and increase wait times for everyone else."

Wouldn’t it be nice to hear from a business man like @JasonCoppingAB to learn why he signed a Ministerial order to purchase a non-standard Tylenol, against expert advise, when an approved known version was available
70M wasted.
Not a single politician held to account so far.
"The Alberta recovery model"
Alberta: "Choose recovery."
Nearly 600 people: "We choose recovery."
Alberta: Closes their 62-bed treatment program and drops them from the waitlist.
Make it make sense.
Yep.
Well known internally in AHS.
The leads in AHS advised in writing against the deal
Smith and her govt ordered AHS to make the bad deal and then when it all came out told the press and public it was all AHS’s fault!
Smith lied and blamed others for her major error.

Actually, it does violate the CHA, both in the letter and spirit of the law. But that's beside the point, really. This is a distraction from the fact that healthcare in Alberta is basically shit at the moment and your government is to blame for it.
Nonsense. I am/was an international student, an Alberta student, an Alberta taxpayer, and an Alberta citizen. I have also done more for the education of Albertans than you have. Stop spewing divisive and hateful culture war bs and govern.

Cancer-diagnosed Albertans may have to partly pay for diagnostic scans, even after government compensation- as in some cases, those amounts are far less than the price demanded by private providers

🎯Re: Bill 11:
"Alberta is not following an established international model. It is conducting a policy experiment with well-documented harms and unproven benefits."
Albertans aren't this government's lab rats. We deserve evidence-based health care!

A patient's place in line for medically necessary care should depend on their health needs, not their financial situation.
Protecting access to public health care means ensuring every Albertan is treated according to need. https://t.co/6jVmym7hxk
It’s incredible that Alberta’s physicians have to so openly and squarely rebuke the Alberta Smith government. Let the record show Alberta’s physicians stood up for the average Albertan. @Albertadoctors
*UPDATE* - Beaverlodge Emergency is now CLOSED until 7am Friday Aug 7th. No Physician coverage.
Hinton & Edson - CLOSED - Road trip to Edmonton (or Whitecourt)!! and the rest of the closures posted yesterday.. 1300 Acute care beds unavailable.. OBGYN Closures.. 5-8+hr waits in Calgary ED's, 5-12hr waits in Edmonton.. *sighs*
@TheBreakdownAB@PfParks@RajSherman@DebatingChris@TheRealDKGray
Alberta's gov't is allowing self-referral & pay privately for MRI, CT scans, ultrasounds, X-rays without a physician’s referral. They defend this by pointing to countries like Germany, Switzerland, Japan, South Korea.
That comparison does not withstand scrutiny. (1/17)
As Danielle Smith moves on her plan to expand private, for profit healthcare...
Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists is raising the alarm over the fact that they weren't even consulted on the changes.
