I'm sure there is nothing dangerous about bird flu in your milk.
After all, it is pasteurized.
And pasteurization is a quality controlled process. Like aircraft maintenance.
@TRyanGregory Actually, we donโt know that. There is zero good evidence that pasteurization fully denatures avian flu in milkโresearch shows itโs quite persistent in organic materials like egg white at high temps and suggests that with better tracking we may ID human infection via ingestion
@Unlikely_Buddha@DGBassani You do realize that the FDA guidance is limited at best, disingenuous definitely, and not remotely backed up by the science? Researchers have been actively criticizing the FDA on this for YEARS. There isnโt evidence that HTST or UHT pasteurization fully denatures avian flu.
@M8Void The FDA is very blatantly not saying if the virus currently present in the milk supply is alive or dead, which is a big ๐ฉ for us. We know that H5N1 transmits via ingestion for other species, we're assuming it's true for humans too, as do some researchers.
@M8Void I hope there will be more studies, but obviously the existing ones are mostly about the virus in poultry and eggs. My kid and I also relied heavily on dairy as part of our repertoire of safe foods, but the transition's been pretty okay. ๐คfor your peeps if you go that route!
@jasmith_yorku@cupe3903comms@YUFAyorku This is how they always do it, which just makes it worse. I recall this vividly from the end of the 2008 and 2015 strikes I was part of.
@moniza_hossain I know folks have mentioned the TV adaptation but is also one of the great audiobooksโSimon Prebbleโs narration is genius, especially given how complex the source material. Even the footnotes work!
Local T.O. dirty political ploy to displace vulnerable houseless under the guise of building a "pollinator garden" during the winter. Please hold councillor @DianneSaxe accountable. Stop acts of cruelty under bs green rhetoric. This letter of objection from @FriendsOfKM#TOpoli
@ZJAyres Absolutely! Just like planning sewing and knitting projects, buying fabric and yarn, and actually sewing and knitting are three different hobbies.
On a related note, I may have too many hobbies.
@AutisticCoach_ Weeks. We've solved the washer-to-dryer problem by getting a combo unit (no switching loads) but putting away is a whole other story.
A recent special interest in styling and tracking outfits in @stylebookapp is helping, though, because I want to see everything hung up at once.
The Ontario Place project - which still has no approvals - is moving forward with tree cutting. This includes destruction of a significant piece of the landscape on the mainland, for @ThermeCanada's purposes.
Isnโt it wild that City Hall used to have to vote on every single tree that someone wanted to cut down on their property but the province can just cull 1566 trees, against massive public outcry, and there are no mechanisms to prevent it.
