Listen, I work 6-7 days a week, but I don’t think it’s a reasonable expectation for everyone. And I’m really over people griping about remote work being less valuable/productive. Way to be tone deaf, Martha…
"You can’t possibly get everything done working three days a week in the office and two days remotely... Should America go down the drain because people don’t want to go back to work?" https://t.co/Np9L3lxusU
@mckeelearning For the first time this semester, my syllabus also includes a date after which late work can no longer be excepted. Caveat is that late work is never accepted without a conversation where we agree to a timeline/deadline. This has come in handy this semester. 2/2
@mckeelearning I do periodic grade audits in my class now. Set up like a quiz. Students have a chance to go through all of their previous assignments and confirm their understanding of grades and feedback. They also agree to a date by which they must address concerns with those assignments. 1/2
I could have f**king told you this years ago.
New study shows that swearing:
- reduces pain,
- improves physical performance,
- tightens social bonds.

A company isn't a family. Parents don't fire their kids for low performance or furlough them in hard times.
A better vision for a workplace is a community—a place where people bond around shared values, feel valued as human beings, and have a voice in decisions that affect them.
Folks attacking teachers act like our goal is to work remotely. In reality, teaching online is both more work + far less joy. We don’t want to teach online—we just want ourselves, our students, + our families to be safe. We could be fighting for safe in-person schooling together!

@_Jackie_Bruce Agreed. I was fully remote from the jump last fall. Missed being in the room with students, but loved not having to mask. Hybrid spring was a MESS. I don’t want to do that again. I just hope they make the call sooner than later.
@mckeelearning True. Maybe a better analogy would be voting. There's a final day to do it, but the results may be overwhelmingly clear before then if most folks vote sooner than later. Sure, maybe results aren't declared early, but the outcome is the same.
@mckeelearning Fair. But the real issue is the overachievers who respond early. I think of Doodle poll deadlines similar to assignment deadlines. If most people submit early, I'll probably start grading.
