I guess it doesn't make sense to me to buy Take Two games anymore.

Notice how CEO Strauss Zelnick here uses the word consumer and not customer. What Mr Strauss forgets to mention here is that 90% of their income might be digital. But its 20% of their consumer base most likely provides 80% of that income.

This is called the 80/20 rule it relies on a small group of people consistently buying their goods. The big spenders. It's something that can be applied in a lot of aspects of a free market.

The consumer he mentions here the one I relies on to push this trend is the one irresponsible with money, the one who has no idea about monetary value.

The person who keeps swiping their credit card when they reach a roadblock in a game and needs digital funds to buy shark cards and whatever NBA2K uses.

But I guess I'll face it I'm not the target audience for Take Two games anymore.

Though let me tell you this the thing Strauss forgets here is I might not be the 20% that provides all his income but he forgets that he still needs the 80% of these customers to provide buzz and talks about their games. Once those average joe's leave its just a matter of time before the 20%'er starts moving on too so they can flex and dunk on the poorfags elsewhere.

DOOM co-creator John Romero has responded to claims that piracy was a main reason for the game’s success and hurt id Software.

All started after former id Software dev said 70–90% of DOOM players pirated the game, costing the studio millions.

Romero disagreed explaining that the original DOOM was released as shareware, so the first episode was free to copy and share legally.
Players were encouraged to distribute it widely.

According to Romero, DOOM had around 20 million free shareware downloads and sold over 2 million full copies.
He said those free players should not be counted as pirates, as they used the game as id Software intended.

Sony is now being sued in five countries over claims that it has too much control over digital game sales on PlayStation.
