The pure zero downtime, zero data loss upgrade of @PostgreSQL 12->14 of several multi-terabyte, heavily-loaded clusters, with support of zero downtime, zero data loss return to the cluster – a great example of what's possible. And great coordinated work by multiple teams 🎉 🐘
With GitLab, we agreed that we need to create materials about it, blog posts and talks, to share details with community – there is a lot of interesting things to discuss, to make Postgres upgrades smoother.
It’s a great day for #Indianfootball, an enormously encouraging decision by the ministry of sports, honourable sport minister @ianuragthakur and our government!
Big thanks to them for recognising our recent results and making it possible to challenge ourselves at the Asian Games
Also, it’s a travesty that a foreign coach believes more in the future of the National game than the government.
@ianuragthakur what is the government doing ?
For the #BlueTigers !
After going through @stimac_igor ‘s twitter feed, I can’t help but feel inspired by his passion for Indian football.
This is the kind of person you go to war for ❤️💙
@ianuragthakur needs to step up and make this happen.
A humble appeal and sincere request to Honourable Prime Minister Sri @narendramodi ji and Hon. Sports Minister @ianuragthakur, to kindly allow our football team to participate in the Asian games 🙏🏽
We will fight for our nation’s pride and the flag! 🇮🇳
Jai Hind!

I just wanted to send this farewell message to all Manchester United supporters.
I would like to express my unwavering gratitude and appreciation for the love from the last 12 years. We’ve achieved a lot since my dear Sir Alex Ferguson brought me to this club. I took incredible pride everytime I pulled on this shirt, to lead the team, to represent this institution, the biggest club in the world was an honour only bestows upon a few lucky footballers.
It’s been an unforgettable and successful period since I came here. I didn’t think from leaving Madrid as a young boy we would achieve what we did together.
Now, it’s the right time to undertake a new challenge, to push myself again in new surroundings.
Manchester will always be in my heart, Manchester has shaped me and will never leave me.
We’ve seen it all. 🤘🏼❤️
I hate that my punctuality is usually circumspect when it comes to meetings.
However, coworkers, please note I don’t do it for these douchey reasons. 🙏🏿
Spoke to a founder worth >$150M who intentionally shows up late to meetings. Why?
1. Signals that he's very busy and important.
2. Establishes control over the other person's time, enforcing social submission.
3. Makes them like him more (Benjamin Franklin effect).
Thoughts?
I heard this story first hand from said employee and it's hilarious how ridiculous it is.
Reminds me of Ari Gold from #entourage. What a way to say A̶l̶o̶l̶a̶ Aloha !
I’m saying this as someone who hustles only thanks to support structures I have that enable me to do this.
Had to pause and reevaluate things as my health took a downturn when I started ignoring my body.
For anyone reading this, this isn’t the only path to success or money.
Hustling is useful provided you’re solving problems instead of suffering from burnout with nothing to contribute to the cause.
Health, life situation, personal commitments should be sorted to enable you to hustle.
Family and a doc visit have a way of humbling such arrogance. 🙏🏿
I love this thread and resonate with it so much.
Safety nets dilute ownership, incentivising service/product owners to leverage said net to an unhealthy degree.
Effects are worse when said “safety net” teams don’t have a say in what product/service they suddenly need to “save”.
@sidin since no one has clue, you need a triage team to make sense out of downtime, and that's where you defeat the first tenet of product engineering culture - "team ownership"
