You asked for it, and you got it! Behold the making of a space cake, @roscosmos cosmonaut style! Our crewmate Andrey Fedyaev made this video capturing the process, using sweetened condensed milk, layers of intricately sliced honey bread and yogurt (@roscosmos food supplies) and rehydrated berries (@NASA food supplies). 

Our crewmates are such “space kitchen” masters, that I’ve eaten far more cake on the @Space_Station than I do on Earth! Each homemade cake is unique, of course (another beloved ingredient is pine nuts!). This one happened to be for my birthday last week. Thank you to all of the Expedition 74 crew for making it such a special event! 🎂🎉

HEADS UP! 🏜️🐪 Several large plumes of Saharan Dust will be heading across Florida and the Gulf over the next 10 days. July is normally the peak of the Saharan Dust season for the United States. Remember the dust can weaken or suppress tropical activity in impacted areas and bring vibrant sunrises and sunsets too!

Scientists say the lava fountain gushing out of Hawaii’s Kilauea volcano reached about 1,000 feet high at its peak this weekend. It flowed non-stop for seven hours.

Check out the video from @phivolcs_dost of the new minor phreatomagmatic eruption 30 June 2026. I worked with them while at VAAC Darwin. My family hiked #Taal in 2014. It erupted on 12 January 2020 (43 years since last eruption). The lake in the main crater dried up then.

LOOK: A minor phreatomagmatic eruption occurred at the Taal Volcano Main Crater at 2:34 PM today, 30 June 2026 that lasted four and a half minutes based on seismic, infrasound and visual observations. The event consisted of three pulses that produced jets of dark gray ash and steam-rich plumes that rose 1,200 meters above the crater before drifting to the southwest. Alert Level 1 prevails over Taal Volcano.
