Storms are expected to develop this PM in WV with a cold front pushing through. This front will interact with our hot and humid air mass and enable storms to develop quickly. Storms will be capable of damaging wind gusts and hail. Timeframe will be between 3 PM and 8 PM. #wvwx
This area of development is moving SE into an area that has seen a lot of sunshine this AM, resulting in a lot of surface instability, which should allow these storms to develop quickly. Storm chances in WV will be highest between 4 PM and 8 PM. #wvwx
We're still expecting scattered strong storms to develop late this afternoon in WV. We're seeing cumulus clouds on satellite this morning begin to grow vertically in Ohio - signs that thunderstorms are beginning to develop. #wvwx
WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON STORMS: It's a small window of opportunity, but a couple of hours of sunshine with decent wind shear (change in wind speed and direction with height) in the lower atmosphere should allow a couple of strong to severe storms to form in the afternoon. #wvwx
The biggest hinderance to these storms is the lack of moisture - dew points in the mid 50s isn't exactly a lot of moisture for storms to work with - but it should be ENOUGH with the wind shear and surface instability present to pop a couple of strong storms. #wvwx
Strong wind gusts are the primary threat between 4 PM and 8 PM Wednesday, though with pretty dry mid-level air present, hail is also on the table in some of the stronger storms. Storms will exit by dusk Wednesday. #wvwx
@BanditJustice Isolated threat on Tuesday (mentioned it on FB). Wednesday is a little tricker but could have a slightly higher ceiling. Will dive more into that day tomorrow.
