My first tweet. Like many of you that I follow, I was on duty on Monday and had the honour of lining the route for our glorious Queen. I can’t put into words the pride I felt for our job - a feeling that is unlikely to reoccur in my career #OperationLondonBridge
I like a joke as much as the next person but it’s sad to read that some people are making jokes about the #ForestGate Police Station fire. It’s not funny - it is tasteless. One of our Stations is on fire - think about the stress your colleagues are going through before posting.
@plod1956 Our colleagues are/were making jokes about the incident whilst the nick was still burning. They also seem to forget that these posts can be viewed by MOPs - and we wonder why there is a lack of trust and confidence.
Judging by the way it’s currently going, the arresting officer might as well call their Fed Rep and expect an IOPC Interview after the job has self referred 😒
@HaywireHarris I don’t think the mental impact is taken into account when these decisions are made. They (SLT/Management Board) create this mess and it’s up to Sergeants/Inspectors to manage the welfare of the officers concerned.
When is someone in our organisation going to have the confidence to support Officers?
I don’t think SLT/Management Board seem to realise how these decisions to self refer to IOPC (when it clearly wasn’t needed) have a negative impact on the rest of us across the MPS.
The officer concerned is now restricted and faces a Criminal Investigation by the IOPC…. for those that don’t know, this will not be resolved quickly. Unnecessary stress for the officer and their family which could have been completely avoided.
Today marks 38 years since the murder of PC Keith Blakelock QGM.
Officers and Keith's colleagues remembered him with a minute's silence at the memorial in Muswell Hill, where he was the local beat officer.
His bravery and service to our community will never be forgotten.
