Prof.@RhodaWanyenze, speaking on behalf of Makerere University and representing the Vice Chancellor, Prof. @ProfNawangwe, congratulated the @MinofHealthUG and partners on the launch of the Uganda Population-Based HIV Impact Assessment (UPHIA) 2025. She described the launch as a major milestone, achieved after rigorous planning and collaboration.
Prof. Wanyenze noted that the survey reflects the Ministry’s commitment to integration, as it will include data on non-communicable diseases for the first time. She underscored the value of UPHIA data in shaping Uganda’s HIV response and broader public health policy, highlighting how previous surveys have guided prevention, treatment, and health system reforms.
She reaffirmed @Makerere University’s long-standing role in public health leadership, research, and training over the past 70 years. She further assured participants of MakSPH’s readiness to contribute to high-quality data collection, analysis, and translation, building on past experience with national surveys on HIV, tuberculosis, schistosomiasis, family planning, and non-communicable diseases.
Prof. Wanyenze acknowledged continued support from the American People through @CDCgov and @PEPFAR and commended the Ministry for making UPHIA 2025 a fully Ugandan-led initiative, a step forward in building sustainable national research capacity. She applauded all implementing teams and urged field officers to approach their work with integrity and care, in order to strengthen Uganda’s health system through credible, actionable evidence.
