@MLE_Online I've seen some of those rebuilt in modern style. There are modern FWD engine/drivetrain swaps. I can only hope someone does. Am too far away.
@_MG_ Been broke (owing a lot as well), unemployed and essentially a homeless vagabond a couple of times. Recovered. No fear of it. Important things: Your health. Family/people that you care about, a few memories.. and skills that help you survive.
@nyquildotorg I do the same, or end in .42 - Reason: Makes it easy to look at the credit card statement and say: Yeah, that was me. and yes, I've had a card skimmed/duped.
@MLE_Online They still deliver an advert thingy here in Chattaboogie. weekly. I call it "littering at scale". You made me realize I need to store a few for future spray paint and solvent projects. Thanks.
Dear Lusers. The "AI" human ident bot detector needs help increasing our database of imagery we can sell to face matching systems, and it outs bots. Post a pic of yourself. - Or post a pic of some random other person to poison the data. + points for "Album Cover Style"
@quentynblog Take a 30 minute break, get some sunshine. If still out, go for an hour. Then decide if there is anything I need to do that I can't use my mobile/hotspot for. Office is 15 min away, if office and mobile down as well, time to check the zombie ammo/food stockpile and solar power.
@sjhilt Thanks, I needed that reminder to pack and use my OMG Malicious Cable Detector as well as make sure my charging cables are 2-wire only. Hadn't been out and about much, that's changing.
To be fair, he was more of a true "technician" than a mechanic, very sharp. But Hilt's right, and I'll bet the different perspective and skills are useful.
Recently one of my good friends got into InfoSec, he used to be a mechanic. To say someone can't be in InfoSec because of their current job seems odd to me. Many different skills, sure, but there is a LOT to InfoSec and we need all the good people we can get in all aspects.
@mikecodemonkey I've got one of that era Thinkpads in the shop. Used for USB camera and some thinks that like a real serial port. Thing is sweet useful, Debian 11 w/cinnamon, 4 gb ram and an SSD shoed in makes it sing. They don't die. I've tried.
