@mkainerugaba The challenge you have is that UPDF HQ, will be fighting UPDF South Sudan branch since that geographic expression called South Sudan doesn’t have its own army and has been UPDF protectorate since 2013!
#FirstpostAfrica: South Sudan has strongly condemned the United States' decision to revoke all visas for its nationals, following a dispute over the deportation of citizens. @alysonle discusses the visa ban issue with Dr Remember Miamingi (@miamingi), South Sudan Analyst.
Your vote matters — whether you cast it or not, and whether you cast it well or not!
Democracy has consequences, just like every system of governance. You are the difference between hope and despair.
The fate of one democracy depends on others! A declining democratic solidarity strengthens other systems!
As a South Sudanese, I feel deep sadness and fear for my people — those who escaped death, destruction, and despair at the hands of the cabal in Juba, only to see the actions of the same brutal regime reach for them even in the safety of the United States.
I hope other countries will offer refuge to political and right activists who used their voices in the U.S. to shed light on the suffering of their people — and who now face the ultimate risk, with their dreams and lives endangered by reported visa revocations by the US!
Nairobi, the Geneva of Africa, is a paradoxical hub where dictators and country plunderers hide and launder their wealth, while international organizations supposedly fighting corruption and abuse thrive.
It is a city where peace negotiations take place, even as rebellions are quietly nurtured in the shadows.
Meanwhile, CSOs raise their voices, often drowned out by the complexities of power and money swirling around them.
From Botswana’s Motho le motho campaign that built the University of Botswana, to Kenya’s Harambee movement, South Africa’s Stokvels and Ubuntu giving, Ethiopia’s Idir and Equb, Nigeria’s age-grade and town union systems, and Ghana’s Susu savings and Asafo companies—Africa has a rich history of community-driven philanthropy and mutual aid. These indigenous systems, rooted in solidarity and self-reliance, have long supported social and economic development.
Yet, the rise of Western-style aid and charity models often overshadows and even threatens these homegrown mechanisms. Should Africa rethink its approach and reclaim these time-tested traditions of giving and development? This article explores the risks posed by external aid models and makes the case for revitalizing Africa’s indigenous philanthropy.

Syria could very well symbolize the future of a multipolar world—a world where the suffering of a people only matters when the interests of powerful players align. May these stars stay aligned to prevent Syria from becoming another Libya, and may they finally align for Palestine!
Today, I received an email from a familiar address. To verify the content of the message, I called the person using their number on record.
We exchanged pleasantries and briefly discussed about a few shared experiences. After the conversation, I acted on the message.
However, feeling unsettled, I made additional calls, only to discover that both the email and the phone number had been hacked. The hacker had studied past conversation records to build trust and appear credible.
Please exercise caution, even when there is no obvious reason to suspect anything unusual.
About 106 days ago, the ICC Prosecutor requested the three judges of the Pre-Trial Chamber to issue arrest warrants against several leading figures involved in the Israel-Palestine conflict.
The judges have yet to make a determination—a process that took them approximately 23 days in the Putin case. This delay is increasingly seen not just as an indictment of certain figures in Israel and Palestine, but as a broader indictment against the very idea of international justice being applied without fear or favor for all.@IntlCrimCourt
