@vickylynnxo I think iced coffee is so associated with syrups and sweeteners that it conveys immaturity and frivolity? Almost as if an adult came into an interview with a milkshake. Not saying it’s a good thing but I do think that’s the distinction tbh
@judeinlondon !!
It's an absolute scandal the way that work experience operates; just an entrenchment of class backgrounds. We have to have so many of our disadvantaged pupils working in school as parents/family don't have appropriate jobs for out pupils, it's so frustrating.
@timcairns The boys in our (all boys) school just… take off their blazers and ties at lunch and run about in their shirts and trousers? They are plenty active!
@tomphilip Yes and some schools add lots of value to pupils with a similar demography whereas some do not. Outcomes can be measured more effectively (not perfectly) as it can account for context.
@LewisFraserr_@PBandGelii Yes but they will start learning that trade at a level 2 rather than a level 3, putting them at least two years behind their peers. Many L3+ courses have 4s in english/maths as a barrier to entry and their resit chances aren’t going to be great with some of their attitudes alas.
@JohnCenaFan69 It definitely is in England hahaha it’s an acknowledgement that you’re potentially intruding and apologising for that intrusion in advance. Deeply, deeply common over here!
@Johnfinney8 Of course group work and performance cannot be silent; this would need more questioning to figure out what was happening. I would still expect pupils to ensure all chat was on task and remains focussed.
@Johnfinney8 My music classroom is centred on playing through or composing on a suite of Macs with midi keyboards. Solo piano and solo composition can absolutely take place in silence (though I never insist on this and pupils will often hum to themselves)
@AndyNelson1977 There needs to be common sense re clear desperation/menstruation and a strategy in place (eg patrol/escorts). I think realistically though, as I mentioned, bodily functions DO naturally get policed (no or low access in publics areas, jobs etc) and pupils need to learn how to cope
@AndyNelson1977 I do understand it’s feedback but it’s situationally dependent. It’s no pupils in toilets at all at my school and patrolled if desperate and it works; we don’t get parents complaints about it. It can and does work in many places.
@AndyNelson1977 Can’t speak for Rufus but I’ tired of the discourse. People get on the toilet-less tube every day and plan around it. It’s on the school to ensure pupils have time to access the toilet in breaks/lunch but pupils can, should and do take some responsibility for time management.
@AndyNelson1977 Yes they are children and need help with this; if desperate in my school we can call patrol to escort them. I have professional judgement, we can tell. But our pupils cannot be left alone to walk around the school unaccompanied for safeguarding and safety reasons.
@MortenKathy Agreed but I have found degree apprenticeships difficult for our pupils to access, particularly those “less academic” as they often still need passes across all core GCSEs regardless. Adults with work experience beat out inexperienced pupils (rightly tbh) so unsure if this helps?
@iambri_97 Are you calling your loved one from the loud performance space or are you being helped to the quiet lobby area at which point you can remove your phone from the pouch that keeps it locked away but still on your person?
@SnakeyBoy047 In a concert? A room with bartenders and security? Who would you call in this scenario that would be faster to deal with the situation than literally waving over the people who work there and have first aid training?
@fictionalangst You are paying for access to a live show that has been created. You are not paying the artist to play. The venue and artist sets the terms of the show.
