Six years ago, I walked into the lair of the tech gods - TED - to warn them democracy may not survive technology.
In fact, I was the one who almost didn’t survive.
This year I returned & called them data rapists.
Complicit in a coup.
Collaborators.
@atRachelGilmore There is no correlation between crowd size and an electoral win, just look to the U.S. in Nov 2024. and Canadian Journalists please stop answering politician's questions, that is not your job, you are just helping them create clickbait.
Independent analysis by The Local found at least 31 of 45 approved school projects appeared to be in Conservative ridings. And not a single project in the TDSB, the biggest board with a massive repair backlog. https://t.co/y8lRUJowiz

Absurd. 🇨🇦has every right to tax tech giants on their revenue within Canada as we see fit.
The entire OECD was supposed to be taxing them at a similar rate by now, in fact.
It's a better approach than #BillC18 and #BillC11's complex and shaky models.

@CBCQueensPark Please write more stories about the women and local candidates running to defeat this kleptocrat. When I'm speaking to people this is what I hear most - they have no idea about who he's running against.
Everyone still ok with handing low orbit broadband over to Musk? And the regulation of our public sphere to Meta, YouTube and TikTok? And the ownership of our media to US hedge funds? And our AI jobs and IP to Amazon, Microsoft, Meta and Google?
Extremely dangerous: Meta shelves fact-checking in policy reversal ahead of Trump administration https://t.co/9pXtTHIsgv via @rapplerdotcom UK, UN, Meta itself has shown that the platform enabled genocide, compromised election integrity (Brexit) and is facing a slew of legal cases in the US, including massive anti-trust in April. Online violence is real world violence.
Strikes by postal workers have paved the way for Canadians to enjoy maternity leave and job security. Now, they are fighting the casualization that threatens so many workers.

"It is incumbent upon each of us to be the woman that Marc Lépine wanted to kill. We must live with this honour, this courage. We must drive out fear. We must hold on. We must create. We must resist."

Murray Sinclair was a great Canadian, a great Manitoban, a great Anishinaabe.
His career stands as a legacy of public service and a deep commitment to truth, fairness and dignity for all people.
He was the first Indigenous person to be named to the Manitoba provincial court and the Court of Queen’s Bench of Manitoba. He was the first, but he will be remembered as one of the best.
He was appointed co-commissioner of the Aboriginal Justice Inquiry, which laid bare systemic racism within the justice system and is considered a foundational perspective on the system’s relationship with Indigenous people. He led the Pediatric Cardiac Surgery Inquest and his report spurred systematic change in the delivery of pediatric cardiac care in our province.
The penultimate moment of his career was his work as chair of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada. He approached a process that could have been divisive and instead transformed it into Calls to Action for the future of our country, helping all Canadians to learn to walk together into a future of respect and understanding where we live up to the phrase residential school survivors taught us – Every Child Matters.
It will be a long time before our nation produces another person the calibre of Murray Sinclair. He showed us there is no reconciliation without truth. We should hold dear in our hearts his words that our nation is on the cusp of a great new era and we must all “dare to live greatly together.”
On behalf of the people of Manitoba, I extend my condolences to his family and to all Canadians for the loss of Mazina Giizhik.
A sacred fire will be open to the public on the north side of the legislative building grounds until Murray Sinclair’s funeral later this week.
