“War is not the answer.
We need a way out of this disaster.
Diplomacy is the way out.
Full respect of international law is the way out.
Peace is the way out.”

"Whatever differences countries have, we can all agree they will not be solved by killing schoolchildren.
That is why we have the laws of war: to protect children and other civilians caught up in conflict, as well as schools and all civilian infrastructure." - @volker_turk
We need to get serious, or we'll be paying for this war for years to come. Civilians across Middle East and beyond have already paid too high a price. My interview with @amanpour in London yesterday.
“Every week I’m calling the relatives of UN colleagues and NGO colleagues who are being killed out there on the frontlines.”
@UNReliefChief@TFletcher tells me about the deadly risks humanitarian workers are being forced to take and the brutal impact of aid cuts.
“Diplomacy is not reality TV. The world is not a casino. Statecraft is not a real estate deal.”
@UNReliefChief@TFletcher tells me that as the war with Iran continues to escalate, “We’ll be paying for this war for years to come…
“We’re deeply frustrated… that’s diplomatic speak for saying we’re furious. Because rich people are winning out of this. The arms dealers are winning… And the people I serve are losing.”
"We didn’t even have a clean place to use the toilet.”

In recent weeks, millions have been displaced by storms and floods in Thailand, Malaysia, Viet Nam and the Philippines. And more heartbreaking news has continued from Indonesia and Sri Lanka, where lives have been lost, and the essential services children rely on have been destroyed.
Children are among the most vulnerable when a crisis hits, facing risks to their health, safety and education. UNICEF is working with partners across the world to ensure children are protected before, during and after a crisis.
Children in 🇻🇳 like Ta Minh Khang (7) have been heavily impacted by climate related typhoons & floods. UNICEF is delivering life saving support. More is needed to rebuild their lives and help them prepare for future disasters.
