Wow. @CityofPhoenixAZ council voted against Dist 5 CW Betty Guardado to continue the project until Jan so she and residents could work with developer. Vote 5-4.
Important to remember the horrific war crimes in Gaza aren’t being done by “the Jews” but rather by a particular murderous right wing Israeli administration. Many brave Jews in Israel & abroad condemn the slaughter. Our fight is against oppression. No room for antisemitism.
In 2015 when @BernieSanders was gearing up for his presidential run, I traveled to Iowa to meet him because I’ve looked to him as a moral beacon for how we should stand up for the working class.
Bernie, you inspired me to run, and showed me how to lead. Thank you.
SSP workers have voted 98% to authorize a strike!
We are fighting for our families and our future. We will do whatever it takes to win the contract we deserve! Si se puede ✊🏽
#SolidaritySummer
Inter Miami will no longer stay at a Fairmont hotel in Santa Monica where housekeepers, cooks, and other workers recently went on strike.
“Thank you to the great Lionel Messi and his team mates for standing in solidarity with striking workers!” their union @UNITEHERE11 said.
Today, I joined @UNITEHERE11 workers to hear directly from them about their professional experiences and challenges.
Here’s what I know for sure: the cost of living in Phoenix is increasingly unaffordable, extreme heat caused by climate change can be deadly, and one job is often **not** enough — even though it absolutely should be.
The hardworking individuals who help our city thrive should be thriving themselves, too. Workers deserve a living wage, benefits, and protections from the heat. They deserve genuine dignity and respect. And I stand with them, unequivocally, in this fight.
#workerscantwait #onejobshouldbeenough
Airport workers deserve respect and better working conditions. They also deserve and demand a $5 hourly pay increase. I'm proud to stand with @UNITEHERE11AZ and @UNITEHERE11 their fight for better wages, benefits and economic justice.
Retweet this to show you stand with them too ✊🏼✊🏼✊🏼
Reading how Thomas Bradley refused to cross the hotel picket line while being homeless, it’s galling to see APSA ($58 million in assets) claim it can’t afford to boycott https://t.co/OxJ9xHHpaf
I wrote about Thomas Bradley, who signed up for a hotel shift via Instawork, a temp-job app. When he arrived to work, he saw he was being used as a strikebreaker. He joined the picket line, the app suspended him, and now the workers are striking over it. https://t.co/eNToVQuxbD
Just checking. Aren't you the folks who insisted that the minimum wage increases of 2006 and 2016 ruin the Arizona economy because companies could no longer pay workers $7.25 an hour?
Se puede, no se puede? SI SE PUEDE at the 102-degree #SheratonPhoenixDowntown this morning! This hotel is one with an expired contract. Workers are picketing there. Check daily if you’re planning to stay at this hotel to make sure you don’t end up at a hotel on strike.

NEW: Texas HOAs can no longer bar landlords from renting to Section 8 tenants thanks to a new state law
The rare, tenant-friendly move from the #txlege came after an HOA sought to oust Section 8 tenants — who are predominantly Black https://t.co/I1Ye0VGlg5 @TexasTribune
