Yesterday's Advocates of democracy, Today's Oppressor of the Press
Nigeria is drifting dangerously.
At a time when our nation should be strengthening its vital democratic institutions, we are witnessing a pattern that shows the opposite. The recent notice by the National Broadcasting Commission, especially at this critical time of the general elections, is very troubling.
A free and responsible media should not be an enemy to any administration, especially one that claims to have fought for democracy. The media is the conscience of the nation. Attempting to stifle voices, moderate opinions, or intimidate journalists under the guise of regulation only weakens our already fragile democracy.
Institutions are not built to serve governments; they are built to serve the people.
At a time when insecurity is on the rise, young Nigerians are losing faith in the country, and the economy continues to fail the average citizen. Our focus should not be on controlling media narratives, but on delivering results.
Nigeria does not need stronger control. Nigeria needs stronger institutions. I stand in solidarity with Nigeria’s media houses and broadcasters who are standing against this attempt to silence independent voices and restrict free expression.
We must return to the path of transparency, accountability, and true independence of all arms and agencies of government. We cannot continue to endanger our democracy.

“I personally see leadership as service. Anytime you take away stewardship from leadership, it becomes self-serving. The transformation of Umuahia is still at its early stage; we are just starting and not comparing ourselves with anybody. I want to make Umuahia look like Umuahia, not Dubai.”
— Governor Alex Otti speaking at an event yesterday.
Two points are to be noted here:
1. Mr. Sowore did not have a matter in court; and
2. He chose the inner bar that even non-silks do not sit for his supposed press conference.
Clearly, his action was a calculated move to ridicule the court.
Lawyers who defend this anomaly should bury their heads in shame. How you people got to the bar should be described as a "misadmission".
The legal profession must be purged of hustlers who are willing to do anything for visibility and money.
For years, women in Nigeria are told to report abuse and trust the police.
Yet a police spokesperson sexualized a question on a mass assault case. This insults every survivor and exposes a system that demeans and dismisses women.
This is simply unacceptable. Bright must be removed. @TunjiDisu1
Nigeria’s Worrisome Terrorism status
The latest Global Terrorism Index report ranks Nigeria among the most terrorized nations in the world, showing one of the highest increases in deaths from terrorism. This is a painful indictment of failed leadership.
While many countries are seeing a decline in terrorism, Nigeria is moving in the opposite direction. This trend is a direct result of misplaced priorities, weak governance, corruption, a lack of rule of law, and the persistent neglect of security, which is the government's most fundamental duty.
From the insurgency of Boko Haram to the growing threat posed by the Islamic State West Africa Province, the crisis of kidnapping, and unchecked violence in our rural communities by heavily armed bandits, Nigerians are dying daily while those in power continue to feast.
What is the purpose of government if it cannot protect lives? Why are we normalizing tragedy while other nations make progress?
This is not the Nigeria we should accept. We cannot continue down this path. It is time to move from excuses to action, and from failure to measurable progress.
A safe and secure Nigeria is not too much to ask; it is the right of every citizen, and it must be delivered.

I’ve been struggling so hard to believe that this RECKLESS statement was made as a response to a demand for accountability on a report of mass sexual assault. It’s even harder to believe that this supposed ‘spokesperson’ hasn’t lost his job by now. Distasteful!
They just bombed Borno State yesterday.
Not once, not twice, 3 different bombings with over 170 casualties.
Guess where Tinubu who claims to be President is?
He is out this morning to the United Kingdom to shake hands with King Charles.
More annoyingly, guess where the Vice President who is even from Borno State is right now?
He is in Anambra jumping from one chair to the other with Soludo singing and dancing in celebration.
Nobody is in Borno
No compassion for the people that died
No assurance to the people for the insecurity you brought to them.
Nigeria, what we are living is not life.
Something extraordinary is happening in the South East.
We have sparked a reading culture in our children at a scale never had seen before.
When you give children a stage,
they start studying harder.
When you reward excellence,
teachers start pushing students beyond limits.
When education becomes a competition worth winning,
an entire region wakes up.
We saw children solving problems adults struggle with.
We saw teachers screaming with pride.
We saw schools pushing their students like never before.
This is the part many people miss:
You don't fix education only by increasing salaries or building more classrooms.
Sometimes you ignite it by creating something children want to win.
If one Olympiad can push thousands of students to study harder,
Imagine what happens when 50,000 children compete next year.
Education doesn't change through speeches.
It changes when ambition enters the classroom.
Watch what happened.
We will make education exciting and rewarding for students and teachers in the South East.
We will inspire millions of children to take science education seriously.
We will build the greatest workforce in Africa and will attract world’s greatest companies.
The future is bright

South East Maths Olympiad main exam is LIVE across the region.
From Kachukwuru CBT Center in Awka, overflowing batches in Onitsha (Anambra), filing-in scenes in Imo, active participation in Enugu centers, and more, these shots show the massive turnout across the south east
100% computer-based, no calculators, pure brainpower on display in the region’s biggest academic showdown (10,990+ students strong).
One of the reasons I try to put in extra effort to what I do is that I hope to positively impact upon people. I indeed wish to leave great memories by the good works I do. I desire that a greater number of people have beautiful stories to tell about me.
Well done @winexviv
This is inclusive of those who deliberately either act blind to the prevalent problems we’re facing or they will prefer to keep amplifying the reasons, they believe we don’t have better options by giving silly excuses for the blatant failure of this anti-people government.
Today’s assassination attempt on His Distinguished Excellency, Peter Obi, is a further testament to the fact that people who treat politics nonchalantly or think it’s “just a game” are either incurably naive, irredeemably obtuse or abundantly foolish.
I’m of the VERY FIRM belief that those who still parrot that distastefully silly narrative that politics isn’t enough reason to create ‘enemies’ are the worst set of demons ever known in the history of mankind.
