I am a Techopian. That means I believe technology is accelerating and is set to transform the world. Whether the result is akin to utopia or dystopia depends.
@WordoftheWings@BrainLogicOnly@elonmusk You lost me five star hotels. The most basic of critical thinking illustrates why the five star hotels is at best misleading at worst a downright lie. Anyone who cites this, tells us more about their critical thinking skills than anything else.
@TomK_Brit1993 Your tweet tells us more about you than anything else — anyone who thinks Starmer whips up hatred whilst poor little Elon and Farage are innocent is so far from reality it scares me.
@MichaelAArouet@EnergyMix_UK Anyone who uses what I call the China argument has zero credibility. The reason why it is a stupid argument are reasons a child can comprehend. But to cap it all, according to Centre for Research on Energy and Clean Air China’s C02 emissions peaked in 2024.
@BROKENBRITAIN0 The UN was forged in the blood of two world wars and represents the single biggest hope for humanity. If you think its demise is a good thing, not only are you spitting at the memory of all those who gave their lives fighting tyranny, you are most certainly part of the problem.
@_Unknown_D_@SkyNews If it is a legacy of the Labour government why is this a global problem? Why is the UK rate below the OECD average and why is youth unemployment higher in China?
@7Kiwi But he isn’t. Wind and solar are like disruptive technology. Read a few reports from Ember to understand what’s going on. It’s the future. Countries that embrace it embrace the future. Those that cling to fossil fuels are like blockbusters.
@KatyKray73 Just asked Claude the same question. Or at least I asked; “In terms of environmental damage how do lithium ion batteries compare with coal when considering life time storage of batteries with the equivalent from coal?” Try it yourself
@MontgomeryToms At what point will you finally get it? Do you think if you had been on the Titanic you would have said: “all passengers who think this ship is about to sink must take a long hard look at themselves?” Sadly we are almost out of time. Shame on you.
@daveatherton You do know that Britain isn’t the only country targeting net zero? C02 emissions even seem to have peaked in China. Your logic is like saying “I will drop litter on the street because other people do.”
@JustADayZPlayer@daveatherton Why do you say “Naff all to do with people?” The possible collapse of AMOC has everything to do with people. And by the way, if it does collapse, the global temperature is not expected to fall, but the temperature in the U.K. is.
@Alpenweerman@Rudy7551@WvH758@SteviesQuotes This is an extremely good response to the tweet that started this thread. It is so utterly terrifying that this fact based and rather powerful response is largely ignored by people who go out of their way to find reasons not to believe in human made climate change.
@Milajoy So if we go through these, most were ideas put forward by a handful of people and never gained anything remote like consensus. The exception is your point about erosion of the ozone layer which was dealt with by human action — such as aerosol bans.
@fjp820@Vveeveeanna@DreyfusJames I believe I’m right in saying that violant crime per capita in every US State and every major US City is higher than in London. Violent crime in London is the lowest level ever recorded. Ignore right wing propoganda saying otherwise, and consider instead the hidden agenda.
