This is an ambitious project that will allow knowing more about the current and future state of the world’s endangered languages. It was designed by myself and Harald Hammarström and it is supported by the Wenner-Gren foundation.
I am late to announce that this week I officially started working at the Department of Linguistics and Philology of the University of Uppsala on a new postdoctoral project called “Estimates of speaker numbers and dormancy year for the world's endangered languages”.
One can have reservations about the Frontiers journals but I do appreciate their transparency. I am not sure why but am I positively surprised that Prof. Wolfgang Lutz was a reviewer for this paper.

New paper by myself and Joop de Beer in which we show that levels of childlessness can decrease as marriage becomes less popular and union histories more complex. Levels increasingly depend on childbearing decisions among cohabiting couples.
