My very clever daughter Niamh finished as runner-up in the Orwell Youth Prize for a short story she wrote. Had a really nice time in London at the ceremony today!

@lordbonkers My late mum liked Mott the Hoople, in fact recently my sister found one of her old diary entries recounting seeing them in Hammersmith in 1973, although I like the throwaway line "Also on with them was Queen"
@EntsPeter@guardian Good thread Peter. I always enjoyed reading your stuff. The comments though, ugh, I know what you mean and it is what I hated most about regional journalism. I can only imagine they would be ten times worse in a national newspaper.
@isaacashe Ummm π¨ sadly not, I'm just caught up in the aftermath. I don't think it was anything too major as the road was cleared pretty quickly but there was tons of traffic backed up. The fire was above one of the take aways near the Wigston Lane junction
@nosylocaljourno Same here - but then I did jury service and the defendant in the trial I was "jurying" did this, although I suspect in that case it was more that he couldn't be bothered rather than fear about facing families
@brianmoore666 As someone who grew up just a few miles from Halifax (Bratfud) I always read your tweets in a southern accent. Never knew you were were a fellow West Yorkshire-ite!
