The last day of my 20th year is the most bittersweet of them all. I never thought I would ever doubt how much longer I can keep teaching because it is my dream job, but here we are and I know so many educators feel the same.
Another day, another article about political churn in our ed community. Limiting conversations in schools will not stop youth from searching for identity. I hope students, and my own children, know they can talk openly and honestly about who they are and what they need from me.
My district provides $150 a year to each SLP for therapy materials. That’s it. SDI for 45+ students. The rest is purchased by us.

Need to get serious for a minute. As our leg considers HB 1479 to eliminate isolation in schools, there are narratives being raised that trouble me. Some well-meaning partners are framing the elimination of isolation as a path to more restraint & injury for students & staff.
