A large part of academia is conference culture. Sadly, this is one of the most carbon-intensive aspects of research. What can we do?!
Thankfully, we at the SEA-SIG have a vision for conferences of the future 🌍!

What an amazing first day to #OHBM2024… but we know tomorrow will be even better! Our symposium, “Rethinking (brain imaging) research in a time of socio-ecological crisis,” will be held tomorrow from 9:00-10:15 AM in Grand Ballroom 104-105!
.@raffi_hotter and I ran a 2-week hackathon investigating whether you could decode images from a portable brain scanner
We got initial results that suggest you can reconstruct images like these from brain activity recorded with time-domain NIRS, and share our detector prototype
We did it in an incredible team of 16 people: @a__bra@stephen_fay@humanscotti @fionaleng_ @chocolateycrepe@yush_g@michelle__wang@jonxuxu@thomas_rribeiro, @bryanhpchiang, Michel Adamic, Wellington Avelino, Grace Jiang, and Stephen Polcyn
We have written a blog post full of tips for maximizing the sustainability of your #OHBM2024 experience! Take a look and share around to anyone who is headed to Seoul in just a few weeks! :) https://t.co/VYyas2StSB
