I plan on using the seven strategies for improved decision making as often as possible in my career. I especially think it is important to debias my own judgement and to take an outsider's view. These are essential tools for a leader in the workplace. #mavDM
@trevors95 This is a great example of difficulty making decisions; there are a lot of options and it is a huge life choice. My mom always says when she was in college, she only had three career options to pursue. I have always been somewhat envious of that. #mavDM
Schwartz discusses the fact that people shutdown when they are overwhelmed with choices. I have experienced this numerous times, especially when it comes to investing money and deciding where and how much to invest. #mavDM
In his presentation, McKnett shares that a lot of major corporations are creating sustainability processes; many are helping environmental and social performances, and they are also gaining financial resources. These processes are contributing to long-term sustainability. #mavDM
@ctusa_uno That is really interesting! After taking Sharot's poll along with the audience, I realized I definitely am an optimist. I liked that she pointed out the negatives and the positives of optimism. #mavDM
I have experienced optimism about my investment decisions, especially with my 401k that I have through my employer. I find it easier to focus on the influx of funds rather than the declines, even though I know both are meaningful and should be carefully monitored. #mavDM
@NickMarx13 Adapting to new technology can be extremely difficult, especially since technology is constantly changing. I agree that education and proper use of technology, specifically A.I., is crucial. #MAVORG
The organization where I work promotes team building between divisions in order to discuss goals or conflicts. These teams have proven beneficial for enhancing communication, overcoming issues, and solving problems. #MAVORG
Face recognition is now being utilized for more than just unlocking your iPhone. Technology innovations like this can change the future and the way organizations operate. #MAVORG
Perspective: Your face is now your boarding pass. That’s a problem, writes tech columnist @geoffreyfowler.
What’s face-recognition at the airport really about? Immigration policy and efficiency. https://t.co/AKUSLYolHI
@ctusa_uno I have seen this as well in many companies that I have worked for. It is hard to accept failure, especially when other people or organizations are involved. I think this is where it can be helpful to focus on the effort rather than the outcome. #mavDM
I recently noticed the authority in my workplace become a part of an escalation of commitment. They continued alotting money and resources into a failed program, because they had already committed to the investment and notified the community. #mavDM
I appreciated Schulz's honesty about getting her tattoo and the regret she experienced. I think a lot of people mask their regret so they don't look bad. It is great that she is using her negative experience to teach others not to worry about regret too much. #mavDM
@MadisonRall It is true, they have both been at the top for quite awhile. They are clearly in the elaboration stage of the organizational life cycle, and should take steps to revitalize sooner than later. #MAVORG
Individuals play various roles in organizations. My manager would be considered a hub, because she is always being sought out for her vast knowledge about the organization and the way things run. #MAVORG
The hotel industry is an example of a service organization, where service technology is crucial for guest satisfaction. Balancing hospitality and service can be difficult, but it is extremely important. #MAVORG https://t.co/dztSNEARRD
@PluggeNate I completely agree! It seems silly, but everyone does it - and I don't think we even realize when we are experiencing choice overload. I have done the same thing with minor things at the grocery store. I guess I need to shop at @AldiUSA from now on. #mavDM
Iyengar discusses the negative outcomes of choice overload. I have experienced this with job searches - when there are a large number of jobs available, it is more difficult to decide on the best places to apply. Fewer options produce far less difficulty in choosing. #mavDM
A long-term work project that I coordinated has recently come to an end. These last few years of working on the project have been a challenging and fulfilling experience. This recollection comes from my remembering self, as Kahneman describes in his 2010 TEDTalk. #mavDM
@ctusa_uno Hard decisions are always extremely challenging. I liked how Chang said that we should think of it more like we are creating our own future, and less thinking we might be making the wrong choice. #mavDM
