We won two years in a row at the UCD Genome Center Halloween Symposium group costume competition! A special shoutout to Uri for winning third place as Princess Daisy in the single costume category. 👑 #Halloween#Metabolomics
Congrats to three #UCDavis professors who have been elected as members of the National Academy of Sciences, including Richard Michelmore, distinguished professor with @UCDavisPlants & founding director emeritus of the @genomecenter. https://t.co/spsxCtvraa
I ordered @ATinyGreenCell's chromoprotein palette to do some agar art + science outreach.
But when my lab saw the rainbow plates, we decided it would be fun to see if we could express the purple chromoprotein TsPurple in lettuce.
Long story short, it worked :D #LavenderLettuce
Fuzzy white growths & yellow patches on lettuce? It could be downy mildew, a fascinating plant pathogen.

Ever heard of oomycetes? Dr. Kelsey Wood explains how these non-fungi can impact your food!

Guess who turned 70 years young today?
The whole @michelmorelab collaborated on a mosaic watercolor painting for Richard's birthday (masterminded by @Lorena_B_Parra ) and there was a fantastic potluck (with our neighbors, the freshly arrived Meyers lab!)

Presence of several nuclei, from different parents, (heterokaryosis) is an important aspect of life in oomycete pathogens. It complicates analysis of the pathogen population diversity

Grateful to ISMPMI organizers & sponsors for an exceptional conference! Presenting my research project with all of you was an amazing experience. Looking forward to the next conference in a couple of years to advance in plant-microbe interactions knowledge together!
