Can someone help me understand how shipping 100s PRs a day makes sense?
Why do you need to ship so many PRs in the first place?
I might just not be AI-pilled enough to understand the need for it yet, so I’m genuinely trying to understand it.
Hey uh, @Keurig - what the hell is a COFFEE MACHINE uploading, let me double check...
ONE FUCKING TERABYTE OF DATA IN 10 DAYS!?!?
Immediately unplugging that. Getting my parents a new coffee machine.
We’re rewriting TiProxy in Rust. One early benchmark vs. Go:
~38–40% less CPU.
~63–66% less memory.
Same 48k requests/s, 740 connections, zero errors in this test.
Promising start.
Google just made Android sideloading a lot harder.
If you install APKs from GitHub, F-Droid or independent developers, this new 24-hour security delay matters.
Here’s what’s changing:
TSRX usage has grown by almost 2x in the last month. Which means we’re soon to be eligible to be included in Linguist - the code highlighter for GitHub!
We’re also close to having TS 7.1 support, a major stepping stone towards TSRX 1.0
@IntCyberDigest I feel like these low-ball numbers I keep seeing are gonna make less safe. I think people are gonna be more and more enticed to sell on the black market 💀
I've been a little sad the last couple of days. Mediabunny's first, longest and most loyal sponsor, Gling, stopped their gold sponsorship of Mediabunny this week. Their CTO @yonatanbd left the company, and they're now restructuring their efforts and cutting costs where they can. An understandable move from their part, and it's got nothing to do with me.
I'm deeply grateful for the years of Yonatan's support; he alone was the basically the reason Mediabunny even got started and he supported me through its development for half a year before I released the version to the public. Thanks to his encouragement and financial support (as well as the support of @konstipaulus), I had the courage the quit my job back then and to focus on building cool media stuff for the web full time!
On the financial side, I'd be lying if I said losing a gold sponsor doesn't hurt. It does, a little. I'm still alright though! GitHub Sponsorships are my main way of making a living at the moment. If you or your company have gotten considerable value from Mediabunny, consider a donation! I'm sure your logo would look beautiful on the Mediabunny home page ;)
I'm working on super cool upcoming stuff that I haven't shared yet, and I'd love to keep working on it. People still haven't experienced the true power of web-based media processing!
❗️ Benchmarks show the 1TB iPhone 18 Pro Max becomes as slow as an SD card due to its QLC memory. The $600 cheaper 256GB model uses TLC and is way faster.
HOMOLAB found the 1TB's QLC storage falls from 3,000+ MB/s to an average of 79.4 MB/s once its caches fill, dipping to 1.1 MB/s at 60% full.
A 512GB iPhone 18 Pro with TLC beat it in every mixed read/write test, by up to 38%.
After Anthropic made Fable 5 permanently available in subscription plans, I noticed a large drop in performance. The model felt dumber, and I couldn't explain why.
Measured five different ways, August delivered dramatically fewer thinking tokens than July.
