Wonderful to have our work published in Science Advances! An enormous amount of work over many years, and a great group effort led by Sachel Mok and @fidocklab. Very happy to have been part of this project.

Sad to say goodbye to all of my brilliant colleagues at the @fidocklab after finishing up my first postdoc, but really excited to start working with @ProfJakeBaum at UNSW!
Progress in malaria control in some countries in sub-Saharan Africa is challenged by several new threats, including artemisinin-resistant P. falciparum parasites with deletions in hrp2 or hrp3. Read the full Perspective by Brian Greenwood, M.D., from @LSHTM:
Important article just out in @NEJM describing increasing numbers of #malaria parasites with resistance to first-line drugs in Eritrea.

Our new paper with Didier Menard's group (and other brilliant collaborators) shows the concerning emergence of partial artemisinin resistance in Eritrea, along with deletions of hrp2 and hrp3.
This study shows the emergence and spread of artemisinin resistance, along with the loss of hrp2 required for malaria rapid diagnostic tests, in P. falciparum in Eritrea.
