@sipeedio so interested in Tang nano 1K. What software is needed. Is this (and licence) free? Found wiki, but not well written :-( . e.g. How much PSRAM, what access speed PSRAM, for example. What programmer is required???
I contacted WCH ( #WinChIpHead ) AGAIN via their website asking technical questions about undocumented commands. AGAIN... nothing #tumbleweed . They clearly don't want to release their secret CH375B commands #FFS Ironically this is typical of #Chinese companies βΉοΈ

Last Friday I emailed #WinChipHead customer support via their English webpage. Fingers crossed that I get a reply. To be fair, I last emailed their support a few years ago, and they sent me the English translated datasheet π for that product.
Found this while looking for information on the #WinChipHead CH375B, which is currently driving me crazy with it's behaviour (parallel mode). TBH all these headaches could be avoided if the documentation was better and gave example use case.
When searching the web for some help on a chip, I ran into this nice bit of shade from the OpenBSD team. :-)

@AllArduino Are you using the 375B in serial or parallel mode. I have having headaches using it in parallel mode, due to unexpected behaviour. Simply the datasheet is missing important information.
As I have discovered can be frustrating to get this chip to work reliably (at least in parallel mode), cos the datasheet does not document all commands. Example use cases are ABSENT. E.g. I read the STATUS register, but the chip returned the important value from the DATA register
I offered some historical (UK) IC stuff (wafers, mask, dev boards, documentation) to the Cambridge Centre for Computing History @computermuseum , but they couldn't even be bothered to reply to my emails. Agree we really need a national vintage computer/electronics museum.
Had someone try and return an EEVblog meter they bought on Amazon under warranty because the mA function had failed. Was working fine and then one day didn't work any more.
Guess the problem...
So I'm using the WCH ( #WinChipHead ) CH375B parallel/serial to USB device. Disasembling the DOS SYS driver reveals they are using "commands" which they do not document in the datasheet. #FFS
So I'm using the WCH ( #WinChipHead ) CH375B parallel/serial to USB device. Documentation is poor (lacking in important details) and a little buggy too. This chip is currently driving me crazy, sometimes works, sometimes doesn't. π€ͺ
I've just install #KiCad6 . I was confused by the colour change. I finally found the menu option which allows me to select the "classic" colour scheme. Would be nice to have an easy to digest "things which have changed" article.
@kicad_pcb has a new default color theme! (not a fan? the "classic" theme is still available, as are many user-created themes at https://t.co/RSEJN5v9zz)
So turns out is was a problem caused by the toolset and NOT by my new PC as some "experts" in the Xilinx forum had suggested. Root cause was hyper-threading in the Ryzen chip. Fixed by upgrading the BIOS which allowed me to disable this setting.
So @Xilinxinc just bought a new Ryzen9 PC (for faster compiles). Installed Vivado 2020.2 . As soon as I try to synthesize, CRASH . No #BSOD just a black screen and re-boot. Posted in the community forum but keep getting told "your PC is broken" #unlikely
@JLCPCB Thank you for your reply, but it was unexpexected that for my biggest order (10 PCBs) I got nothing, but for all my previous 6 or 7 orders I got a little trinket. So I thought that you ALWAYS included a little gift/trinket.
No @JLCPCB you didn't read my tweet propery. It was an expensive order bit NO GOODIES were included. No badge, No ruler, NO jigsaw parts. NO nothing :-( I've got goodies before and I see you send them to your YouTube infuencers.
Just received my mega package of 11 different PCBs from @JLCPCB . Manufactured and delivered in super fast time. But no freebies! :-( No pen. No badge. No jigsaw. Perhaps only @YouTube influencers get these goodies ?
Dear @winbond_Japan@winbondflash is it REALLY necessary to protect the Verilog source of your SDRAM (and no doubt other types) memories? I can't get the model to compile with @XilinxInc Isim. The release notes are TOTALLY lacking in information regarding tool compatibility.
@chainq I speak from bitter experience. A recent purchase of 2 Intel 8088s (picture showed genuine part) got me two non-functional fakes. Obvious signs of sanding. Laser remarked. An 8088 pins 1 and 19 are GND, but not on these devices. Open - should be connected.
Look like fake devices to me. The bat wing logo on the 68008 should be much muich better qualkity. The laser etched parts could have been sanded down salvaged parts.
@apt Nice! 2021 has not been a good year for retrobrighting. I have a 520ST case which is fine except for the very back of the case which you can't normally see. If we had any sunshine I might consider trying this technique out.
@apt Yep, that's pretty normal. My 130XE is much worse! I ran an Atari emulator recently (can't remember which one), because I wanted to play Zeppelin. I noticed that the video emulated the vertical banding you see, and was a little soft. That's taking emulation really seriously!
