@ylecun@ChrisMurphyCT Yes, it is important to follow the money and consider if someone is saying a point of view because, perhaps, their employer pays them to say it.
@eddiekimx@tolles This is a reasonable position, and it isn't represented by your original tweet. I get needing to play to Twitter, but your original post does more harm than good. Simplified "Klein is with THEM" nonsense for clout.
@aursitti@anton@WMATASoldier I think it may be harder than you are saying. Because I suspect new rationales may emerge when President Trump does similar. What do you think about him sending National Guard to Los Angeles?
Stop arguing over crime statistics.
Even if DC was in the grip of some sort of crime wave, these actions would still be brazen and authoritarian.
These are emergency powers. There is no emergency.
@anton@WMATASoldier I believe @Anton. But arguing about anecdotes is a distraction. 1) Trump's overall claims are false and 2) no conservative would support a Dem pres doing this in a conservative city. It's sad (and scary) to see what partisanship is doing to our republic.
Washington, DC is a beautiful city.
DC is home to 700K people and welcomes millions every year.
We have the #1 park system, fantastic public schools, and a tremendous public transportation system.
And we are at a 30-year low in violent crime.
It's important for all who live here and visit to know how beautiful our city is and how proud we are of all that we've accomplished.
@anton I appreciate you and that you live here. And there's just no way that the reality supports Trump's claims. Or that people who support Trump would support this same action by a Dem President in a red state. We can dm if better.
@chamath@AstorAaron@acohenNY If you are interested in boards, please learn about them before sharing false information. There are a range of board types, as well as readily available literature describing them. There are oversight and policy boards, and there are working boards. You are describing one type.
@JDaviesPhD Work for some people? I appreciate you working against the negatives of over-prescribing. Consider also the costs of telling people for whom SSRIs are working that they must be wrong.
