Earlier this year I started my own company focused on financial media. I quickly realized how broken my morning routine was. Every day I would have 15 to 20 tabs open including FRED, the EIA, Zillow, the BLS calendar, and the Atlanta Fed just to figure out what was happening in the economy right now.

What has been annoying me is that the official CPI is essentially a photograph of the economy from six weeks ago. In a world where gas reprices daily and rents reprice with every new lease that lag is a massive blind spot.

I wanted one place where the economic data lives, current as of this morning, cross-referenced, with a single honest headline number for what inflation is doing right now.

So, I built https://t.co/u5jJasOSSN the way that I want to view data.

Nowflation is a daily, CPI-comparable inflation index fed by the fastest credible public sources available. It ingests over 1,000 public series from 24 sources every morning.

It tracks today’s prices, forecasts the next official print, and transparently grades that forecast in public after every release because the financial internet needs more receipts and fewer deleted predictions.

What happened at @startupfest yesterday was antisemitism. Pure & simple. Disguised under a thin veil of advocacy, and everyone in the room saw right through it.

I was on stage with Georges St-Pierre talking about entrepreneurship. Not politics. A man burst in screaming horrible accusations at me anyway. Third time in 2 years, including at the opening of a Jewish community centre.

My parents were in the front row. I'll never forget their faces.

When the target is always the Jew and never the topic, it's not advocacy. It's hate.

The room booed him down and cheered as he was walked out. I'm grateful for that.

Hate got escorted out. We got right back to building.
