The physical book seller is 250 years old and got clapped by the internet (namely Wikipedia).
But is now considering a $1B IPO. How? It’s licensing its info database for LLMs and AI chatbots. This is on top of running websites (Brittanica, Merian-Webster) that get 7B annual page visits and education tools.
It's currently doing $100m in revenue with 45% (pro forma) profit margins, per NYT.
