Appointment of TS Ahmad Terrirudin to JAC is unacceptable, contrary to good governance
19 November 2025
1. I will be blunt. This appointment of TS Ahmad Terrirudin to the JAC is completely unacceptable, and will undermine confidence in judicial appointments, and consequently the judiciary.
2. The very serious allegations that were made against Terriruddin by former CJ Tengku Maimun remain unresolved until now. Those allegations were contained in the minutes of the JAC, which was leaked out in June 2025 & led to a public outcry.
3. What happened to the investigation or inquiry into the allegations? Or was there any? What is the outcome? Why the silence on this from Anwar & the Govt?
4. It is the pinnacle of bad governance for the PM to appoint this judge to the JAC when such allegations are still hanging over his head.
5. Is the PM counting on the fact that time has passed and people have forgotten about the matter?
6. Further, Terrirudin cannot be appointed to the JAC unless the controversial JAC minutes are published in full, so as to ensure that the full facts are made known to the people. Only then can there be confidence in the role of the JAC & the judiciary. There must be no doubt in the mind of the public as to the suitability of members of the JAC.
7. In fact, it is in the interest of Terriruddin himself that this matter is resolved first before he takes up any appointment.
8. In view of this, the correct thing for the PM to do is to put on hold Terrirudin’s appointment until the following steps are taken.
9. First, the outcome of the investigation or inquiry into the allegations made by the former CJ must be disclosed to the public.
10. Secondly the minutes of the JAC chaired by the former CJ must be released, to allay public concern.
11. Nothing else will do, nothing else will restore confidence in judicial appointments in Malaysia.
One problem is that Malaysia’s chairmanship risks the potential of being too much about Anwar, and not enough about ASEAN. For example, Anwar’s personal choice of an ally, former Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, as an ASEAN adviser did not go down well in a politically divided Thailand. Thaksin’s interventions around the Myanmar crisis have not helped. Another problem is the lack of a viable plan to meet expectations, especially as attention will focus on the pressure points facing ASEAN.

About time, the public shows their power. This festive surchange is just another cash grab by these greedy companies. They are already charging 10% and if they think their workers need to be compensated for public holidays, they need to top up themselves.
I say boycott businesses that impose this unreasonable charge. Its getting worse and worse every year. Soon the surcharge will apply to anything that is operating on public holidays.

I don't get it. Why is there no outrage among the Malay community? How many people honestly think they made their money because they are good businessmen?
