HOW HAS ORBÁN MANAGED TO STAY IN POWER IN HUNGARY FOR SO MANY YEARS?
One of the answers is massive electoral fraud. Or rather: control over some of Hungary's poorest areas, where votes are quite simply bought.
That is what a shocking new Hungarian documentary reveals. The film is called "A szavazat ára" — in English "The Price of a Vote".
Watch the film. It is shocking and exposes not only the Orbán regime's undemocratic methods, but also the appalling poverty that exists in parts of Hungary. And in that context, it may be worth noting that when communism fell in 1989, Hungary was one of the most prosperous of the former communist countries. Today, parts of Hungary resemble the poorest areas of Russia or Romania.
This is where Orbán pays for votes to keep himself in power.
The film was only released a few days ago, and it has already garnered over 1 million views on YouTube.
The film is in Hungarian but with English subtitles.

Vivek's "immigrant culture" argument ignores basic selection bias: immigrants are precisely the small subset of people willing to leave behind everything familiar in pursuit of success. We're not representative of our home cultures. We're the ones who left.
@VPrasadMDMPH I agree with much of your content @VPrasadMDMPH but in the Fruit Loops saga, you're overlooking a key benefit: banning food colorants will make processed junk look unappealing, eventually reducing consumption—a slower but potentially more meaningful effect than reduced toxicity.
New preprint up! We sequenced hundreds of samples from across one of Earth's oldest living organisms - the Pando aspen clone - to understand how mutations accumulate and spread in long-lived clonal organisms. Our results were…surprising. 1/30
Excited to see our paper on a new #comammox physiology published today in the print issue of Nature. Efforts to isolate new comammox strains with guanidine already on the way.
