On this day in 1977, Space Shuttle Enterprise completed its last free flight test at Edwards Air Force Base.
This photo is from an earlier flight test the previous month.
38 years ago today, my friend and colleague @MarcGarneau became the first Canadian in space.
This flight served as an inspiration to millions of young Canadians to pursue ambitious dreams and we’ll keep looking up to see more 🇨🇦 astronauts! 🚀
While we continue to mourn the loss of Canada’s longest-reigning sovereign, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, we also look to the future with the proclamation of the accession of His Majesty King Charles III as Sovereign of Canada. My statement: https://t.co/0iR41gn44S
It was with the heaviest of hearts that we learned of the passing of Canada’s longest-reigning Sovereign, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. She was a constant presence in our lives – and her service to Canadians will forever remain an important part of our country’s history.
As we look back at her life and her reign that spanned so many decades, Canadians will always remember and cherish Her Majesty’s wisdom, compassion, and warmth. Our thoughts are with the members of the Royal Family during this most difficult time.
With the new loan announced today to Transat, our government continues to protect jobs in Quebec and across Canada, to ensure a strong recovery and competitiveness in the air sector, and to make sure that the rights of travellers are protected. ➡️ https://t.co/0O921t5OMI

🇨🇦🇺🇦Canada will always stand side by side with the Ukrainian people. We will continue to take action to hold Russia accountable for this illegal war and we will be there to help Ukraine rebuild. Thank you to Minister @AlexanderKubrak for this discussion. #ITF22
Canada and the UK have always had a strong partnership in the transport sector. And it continues on many files like global supply chains, the war in Ukraine and PS752. Minister @grantshapps and I will continue our great collaboration.🇨🇦🇬🇧
This morning at the #StandUpForUkraine event, I announced additional funding for humanitarian assistance in Ukraine and neighbouring countries. This financial support will help trusted partners provide emergency health services, shelter, water, and other necessities.
I also announced measures to help Ukrainians come to Canada – including targeted charter flights, short-term income support to make sure basic needs are met, and temporary hotel accommodation. We’ll keep working to make sure Ukrainians wanting to come to Canada can do so.
