diplomacy is NOT about power, fame, or fortune!
It’s about ENSURING the draft talking points are submitted by EOD Tuesday
to allow time for clearance through the director,
assistant secretary, first assistant secretary,
deputy secretary, associate secretary, and secretary.
And then rewritten by the minister's young advisor.
And then ignored by the minister on the day.
Consistent with its historic commitment to a just and lasting peace in the Middle East, I have decided that France will recognize the State of Palestine.
I will make this solemn announcement before the United Nations General Assembly this coming September.
The urgent priority today is to end the war in Gaza and to bring relief to the civilian population.
Peace is possible.
We need an immediate ceasefire, the release of all hostages, and massive humanitarian aid for the people of Gaza. We must also ensure the demilitarization of Hamas, secure and rebuild Gaza. And finally, we must build the State of Palestine, guarantee its viability, and ensure that by accepting its demilitarization and fully recognizing Israel, it contributes to the security of all in the region.
There is no alternative.
The French people want peace in the Middle East. It is our responsibility — as French citizens, alongside Israelis, Palestinians, and our European and international partners — to prove that peace is possible.
In light of the commitments made to me by the President of the Palestinian Authority, I have written to him to express my determination to move forward.
Trust, clarity, and resolve.
We will achieve peace.
We will not be silent in front of the man-made humanitarian catastrophe in #Gaza.
We call on Israel to immediately reverse policies, and ensure distribution of aid. All parties must engage for a ceasefire and release of hostages.
Only peace can bring security for the region.
When European unity becomes inconvenient, disinformation goes so far as to make a simple tissue look like drugs.
This fake news is being spread by France’s enemies, both abroad and at home. We must remain vigilant against manipulation.
An honour to be appointed as Minister of Finance of Norway in PM @jonasgahrstore government. We face geopolitical challenges & a more uncertain world. Economic stability & prosperity will be my focus.
It’s a privilege to serve my country, and I am ready to play my part.
.@GeirOPedersen this is the moment to embrace the possibility for renewal in #Syria. The resilience of the Syrian people offers a path forward to a united and peaceful Syria. Press remarks: https://t.co/1LQE5qiGrh
Informative piece about the initiative to ask ICJ for advisory opinion on Israel’s obligations to ensure that the UN, other organizations and states can deliver humanitarian assistance and basic services to Palestinians under occupation. https://t.co/UVEe0fOU1X
Congratulations to @realDonaldTrump on his victory in the U.S. presidential election. The US is Norway's most important partner and ally. I look forward to continuing to strengthen our relationship with the new Trump administration.
UNRWA must survive.
No country is above international law.
Norway is initiating a UN resolution asking the International Court of Justice to clarify Israel's legal obligations to ensure that aid reaches Palestinians. https://t.co/SgN4uRXAEe
The vote by the Israeli Parliament against @UNRWA is unprecedented. It opposes the @UN Charter and violates the State of Israel’s obligations under international law.
Failing to push back against these bills will weaken our common multilateral mechanism.
This should be a concern to all.
Norway strongly rejects the legislation adopted by the Knesset today, which will make it impossible for #UNRWA to operate in #Palestine.
Palestinian civilians who are suffering and living in extreme need will be pushed even closer to the brink. https://t.co/WMReOBDBCi
1. Bidra til våpenhviler
2. Sørge for mer humanitær nødhjelp til Gaza

-We want Israelis to thrive and prosper securely in 🇮🇱.
-We want the Palestinians to thrive and prosper securely in 🇵🇸.
-We believe that they both are much more likely to do so if there is a #TwoStateSolution

Skrevet kronikk 👇
