I often describe Pahlavi as the worst writing system ever invented.

Let's take a perfectly-serviceable writing system for a completely different language (Aramaic) and adapt it for our language (Middle Persian). We'll call this new script "Pahlavi".

I've done videos like this for English and also for French.

I'm working on a version in Hebrew, though that will involve readings of the same Biblical passage over and over again (yes, it's going to be Parashat Ha'azinu, because I'm predictable like that).

And I've got preliminary materials gathered for an Arabic one.

Makes me ponder what other languages you could do this for....

Like, I don't see any point in doing it for Italian, for example. But someone could definitely do this with any of the Scandinavian languages.

You could probably do a cool version of it for Persian going way back earlier than the 8th century (which is where the English one begins) or the 9th (which is where the French one begins). Like, you could probably do it for Persian starting at around 500 BC end run it all the way through Safavid times before you run out of phonologically interesting stuff. Unfortunately, I don't know the pre-Islamic stages of Persian all that well enough to even attempt that.
