i've started thinking about markets the same way i think about a surf break.

the wave you see isn't the whole setup.

you've got wind, tide, swell direction, water movement and the shape of the reef underneath.

ignore one of those and the wave can look completely different from what you expected.

markets are similar.

people look at the stock chart and try to explain the move from the chart.

but underneath it you've got rates, liquidity, positioning, commodities, earnings expectations and macro data all pushing against each other.

that's why a market can look bullish one morning and completely different by the afternoon.

the price is the wave.

the interesting part is everything underneath it.
