Yes but the "equal blame all around" thing that Austen's NARRATOR does assumes you understand the basic facts that Mrs Bennet is not legally a separate person, she can't do anything about the fact her 2,000/year husband won't do ANYTHING for dowries. 2000 is A LOT in 1790s money

With those dowries it would be trivial for her daughters to get married suitably, regardless of favorites or educating the girls. People died from random shit so much easier back then too. And a father's favorite has more weight than a mother's, anyway. Mr. Bennet still guilty

Educated reader Mr. Bennet has no excuse for his daughters not having dowries of 4,000-5,000 a piece. And if that were so, 75% of Mrs Bennet's stress dissolves. just nowhere near the same magnitude of sin. He gambled with their entire future everyday for years due to apathy.
