47 years of hostility cannot end through less than 24 hours of talks. Reality on ground is that the U.S.-Iran ceasefire is holding and neither side has said it won’t talk further. The rest is spin.
Here is what Pakistan's insiders are saying:
Diplomacy is a marathon, not a sprint. Though the gap between the US and Iran remains wide, the critical takeaway is that the dialogue broken on Feb 28 has officially resumed in Pakistan. History shows these deals take years, not days.
US- Iran Talks have not ended in a failure. The process will wait for agreement. There is hope in spoken words.
The Success is not about instant hugs and love, but a connection to sit across, and talk with a positive intent to understand and take forward steps.
There will be now speculations and analysis after the JD Vance statement and after a statement by the spokesperson of Iranian Foreign office.
But let's not rush it. There may be a halt, some entrenched positioning, a show of firmness from both sides, some more tension in the room, but hopefully it will come to the middle ground.
JD Vance didn't say talks failed, he maintained that 'we didn't reach an agreement'. White house handle is not calling it a failure either. Ceasefire is over or not, it was not answered. He left the podium with an offer still hanging in the air for the Iranians to pluck it or leave it to settle it in the battle field.
The silver lining is still there. To reach at a win-win, everyone has to take a trophy back home. Let us wait, if they all agree on their versions of victory to sell back to their audience or will they leave it here and the fate of millions of people for some ego and not rationalisty.
Next two hours will be crucial.
A defining moment for Pakistan’s diplomatic history From facilitating dialogue to maintaining neutrality, this initiative showcases Pakistan as a credible and trusted peace partner on the world stage
Pakistan’s historic innings in global diplomacy 🇵🇰
Pakistan delivered an unprecedented mediation: securing a ceasefire after decades of hostility and bringing the US & Iran together in Islamabad for direct talks.
Led by PM Shehbaz Sharif, DPM & FM Ishaq Dar, with Field Marshal Asim Munir’s pivotal role acknowledged by both sides.
31 hours of intense, sincere efforts covered significant ground despite deep complexities, divergences, and external factors.
Both parties now clearly understand each other’s red lines. Vance’s statement leaves a glimmer of hope with our “final offer” on the table.
Pakistan’s role remains that of a neutral, trusted mediator.
A great effort for regional & global peace. #PakistanMediates #IslamabadTalks

@dratiaalikazmi Pakistan’s role in easing tensions and creating space for understanding is commendable. Even a glimmer of hope in such complex dynamics is a meaningful achievement.
