If you genuinely want to do something meaningful for the Marathi language, Mr. Chief Minister, why not start by improving the basic infrastructure and quality of government schools in Maharashtra’s villages?

That would strengthen Marathi at its roots by giving children better education and ensuring that the language remains a living, aspirational part of their future.

But we understand. That requires vision, investment and hard work.

Showing political power over poor Indian migrants is much easier, isn’t it?

हर राज्य की मातृभाषा का सम्मान और उत्थान होना चाहिए लेकिन किसी भी भाषा का राजनीतिकरण नहीं होना चाहिए। इससे देश की भाषिक-भाविक एकता में दूरी और दुराव पैदा होता है।

मुंबई में भाजपा के उत्तर भारतीय नेता हैं या भ्रष्टाचार में लीन होकर ठंडे पड़े हैं।

क्या इस तरह की भाषा-ज्ञान की शर्त रखकर किसीको संपूर्ण देश में व्यवसाय करने की स्वतंत्रता के सांविधानिक अधिकार का हनन नहीं होता है?

अगर ऐसा ही है तो फिर जो विदेशी कंपनियाँ मुंबई में काम कर रही हैं, उन पर भी ये शर्त लागू हो लेकिन होगी नहीं क्योंकि धन लोलुप भाजपा धनवानों के आगे कालीन की तरह बिछने को तैयार रहती है। भाजपा का सारा ज़ोर गरीबों, शोषितों, वंचितों और उपेक्षितों पर ही चलता है।

एक तो भाजपा सरकार नौकरी-रोज़गार नहीं दे रही है, दूसरी तरफ़ जो अपनी रोज़ी-रोटी अपनी मेहनत से कमा रहे हैं, उन पर भी वार-प्रहार कर रही है। कहीं इसके पीछे भी कमीशनख़ोरी का खेल तो नहीं? हो सकता है भाजपा को कमीशन का लालच देकर ‘गाड़ियों की बड़ी कंपनियाँ’ आम जनता की सवारी ‘आटो -रिक्शा’ ही बंद करवाना चाहती हों, जिससे लोग बड़ी कंपनियों की महंगी गाड़ियों से चलने के लिए बाध्य हो जाएं।

अगर किसी राज्य में काम करने के लिए, स्थानीय भाषा के ज्ञान की यही अनिवार्य शर्त बाक़ी राज्यों ने लगा दी तो? हर व्यक्ति पढ़ा-लिखा नहीं होता है और न ही हर व्यक्ति की भाषिक क्षमताएं एकदम से किसी भाषा को सीखने योग्य होती हैं। यदि ऑटो-रिक्शावाले मानसिक दबाव में ऑटो चलाएंगे तो ये ड्राइवर के साथ-साथ सवारी-गाड़ी सबके लिए घातक साबित हो सकता है।

अगर ऐसा ही है तो मुंबई-महाराष्ट्र की भाजपा घोषित कर दे कि वो किसी हिंदी, ब्रज, बुंदेली, रोहेली-कौरवी, अवधी, भोजपुरी, मैथिली; हरियाणवी, गढ़वाली- कुमायूँनी; मारवाड़ी, ढूंढाड़ी, मेवाती, मालवी, हाड़ौती, बागड़ी, शेखावाटी, मेवाड़ी; गुजराती, काठियावाड़ी, सुरती, चरोतरी, महसाणी; तमिल, तेलुगु, कन्नड़, मलयाली, तुलु, ओड़िया, गंजामी, संबलपुरी-कोसली, बालेश्वरी देसिया; सिंधी, पंजाबी; कश्मीरी-कॉशुर, डोगरी, गोजरी, पहाड़ी, शिना, बाल्टी, लद्दाखी; असमिया, मणिपुरी-मेइतेइलोन, मिजो, कोकबोरोक, खासी, गारो, नागामी, बोडो, भीली, गोंडी, कुड़ुख, मुंडारी, संथाली व अन्य भाषा भाषियों का एक भी वोट नहीं लेगी।

सरकारों को दिल भी बड़ा रखना चाहिए और दिमाग भी।
