This mother is now raising six orphaned children alone. Every day she carries the weight of grief while searching for the next meal to keep her family alive. Like so many others, she depends on community kitchens because there is simply no other option. And these kitchens are closing.

On July 6, The Sameer Project distributed 303 Alexandrian liver meals at Abu Hussein School Shelter in Arafat Camp, providing nourishing food to families. The total cost was $907 after 11% commission.

Education in Gaza is not accessible to most kids due to the harsh circumstances that they’re living in. Everyday the families split between community kitchens, water queues, bread queues, clinic visits, lighting the fire, collecting wood and more.

Even the few schools that do exist, some charge money so many can’t afford that and all of them are in tents with dozens of kids crammed together to learn. A difficult environment for kids to learn even if schools exist.

🚨 Palestinian lawyer Khaled Mahajneh revealed harrowing details about what detainees from the Gaza Strip are enduring in Israel’s Sde Teiman detention facility, including extrajudicial killings, amputations without anesthesia, and killings.

🗣️ In a media interview, he said that thousands of Palestinian men, women, and children are being held in the facility, which was established after the war, where the most horrific forms of torture and abuse are allegedly carried out.

💔 Quoting detained Gaza journalist Mohammed Arab, he said: “Each detainee is confined to a marked space they are not allowed to leave. They sit, sleep, pray, and are tortured there while blindfolded and shackled.”

⚠️ Arab also described detainees having limbs amputated without anesthesia and being forced to witness the killing of other detainees, including children, women, and girls.

❗Arab warned that 400 Palestinians from Gaza will effectively be executed within a few months because the world has failed to act against what he described as unlawful Israeli practices.
