@daviestero @johnwalker_1986 There is no simplification of rules. Oversimplification just causes more grey areas. David’s reccommendation is a perfect one that gives proportional punishment for a minor offence.

@FarvaRangers @johnwalker_1986 & so what we are really saying is that the punishment - an 80% chance of scoring from a 1v1 shot from 12 yards - far out ways the crime - the slight extension of the arm to stop a cross.
& so to add an IFK to the law would balance this out and go a long way to improving the law.

@FarvaRangers @johnwalker_1986 The problem is we view these decisions based on their outcomes rather than the law. For eg you say that it “should never be a pen”, as opposed to “never have been a foul.”Had that happened at halfway where the outcome is a FK, there would be no issue with the ref calling it…

@johnwalker_1986 This is the perfect rule change, one I’ve long thought about, especially since the introduction of the yellow card for DOGSO accidental handballs which added more convolution to a broken law.

@ToonPolls @MsiDouglas We only see one shite angle of the foul. Can’t say there was no chance this was a penalty based off what we saw.

Refs don’t have an ego of admitting their wrong, they want to make correct calls, and are often aware that some require new angles of things that this system gives.

@CoachMeron Dont think this can be the conclusion made here. Data shows low shot volume. Eye test says he’s not a great ball striker. Also think his in box movement could improve slightly, although I believe he is often starting his runs too deep (due to the role he’s been asked to play).

Haalands call was also correct, I’m unsure about our goal that stood though, felt watching it live that we were v lucky to have it stand.

The circled bit is the law that underpins the fact that a freekick or penalty cannot be given for an offence that is committed while the ball is not in play.
