“The Kenyan police shot 300 animals in one spot in a single day, with more than 700 animals shot and killed over a span of four days. We cannot take this lightly,” — Samburu Governor Lati Lelelit calls out Murkomen and the government over the alleged random shooting of animals by police.
In Kenya, one of the best personal finance decisions you can make is staying away from any personal debts.
Stay away from mortgages, stay away from car loans, stay away from any type of consumer debt.
Here's why you should stay away from these debts👇👇
Exceptions:
1. Kenya Mortgage Refinancing Company (KMRC) offers mortgages at less than 10% in partnership with some banks and SACCOs, This may make some sense, but not a lot. It is also limited only to first time home buyers, and upto a max of 10M
2. SACCOs have lower borrowing rates and better borrowing terms than banks. Hence may change the discussion here. But remember you still have to first save and then borrow, and then guarantors....does it still add up?
3. Some employers give their employees low interest mortgages at less than 5% and even zero interest car loans or car grants to purchase cars. These are a no brainer.
4. Some banks may offer preferential rates to some of their clients based on their credit scores and long term relationships. These may work depending on the rates.
The debate on Home ownership vs Renting has no clear winner
But most people falsely believe that:
1. Renting makes your landlord richer
2. Replacing a monthly rent payment with a monthly, 30 year high interest mortgage is better
Here are the truths that most people miss👇🏽
An aggressive Karen tried to come around the desk and get physical with a sista on her job. The sista delivered a Harriet Tubman Take-down. Followed by a Coretta Scott King Kick. She was about to finish with some Montgomery Chair action, but someone came to save the Karen
